By the posts and careful searching. You have just won the Jackass award for wrecking your car while racing and for off roading an FD. Congarts.

But Im glad that your ok. My thoughts on the car is keep it. There isnt that much damage from what I can tell.

And if you really dont want to keep the car now that it is wrecked let someone else buy the shell or something. Dont let it be crushed.

Well its lookin like I am gonna go ahead and keep the car..

I knew there would be some people on here that would flame me for wrecking, but its all good, its impossible to please everybody on this forum...

What if I would have changed up the story a little bit, and said it was a ford windstar mini van next to me in the next lane? Then would I have still won the JACKASS award? Lol..Probably not...

**** happens...Damn the luck...You live and you learn...Thanks for all the input guys I am not gonna hate on any of you that flame...Noone was hurt...And I get my baby back!!! Thats really all I am concerned about...

Thanks again guys,
Shawn

By the looks of this place I'm going to need to make another sticky thread for pics of wrecked cars.

How much did you buy it back for? Do you plan on selling any of the useable parts?

Well man, it's good to see that you're remaining positive i suppose.

I'm flaming because i feel bad for your fd, it was a totally preventable incident.

If you ever get the FD back on the road, I really hope you learn from this......

Chunky04,

props for maning up and telling the truth of what happened, fully knowing that you were gonna get flamed.

Sucks that you wrecked your car, glad you weren't hurt and glad that you are gonna fix it. Hope that you learned from this.

Can I ask a dumb question here ?

Why can't you just NOT go thru the insurance at all.......then they don't come look at your car for an estimate..... they never own it......... and you never have to buy anything back from them.

Then you can go get the estimate done at your own shop of choice and go fix the car.

Or is this not allowed ?

I was always under the impression that going through an insurance company is your choice, and if you don't submit the claim then the car just remains in your possession and repairs are your own problem, especially since you didn't hit anyone else.

The only bad part would be that they now know about the accident and it would go on your record.

Chris

^If he doesn't claim it then he has to pay out of pocket to fix it. He might not have that kind of money lying around.

Give the guy some credit guys.

I woulda guessed he was drifting in a parking lot and hit a light pole, hence the reason he "thought" he was going 45mph b/c thats how fast his tires were spinning when he slammed into the pole.

I would guess about 4000.00 to repair. I blew my motor running to lean, almost cried, got the trailor took it home and getting it off the tralior the left ramp droped and broke the fiberglass nose. at 57 years old i cried and went to bed feeling i just killed my best friend! after 7 months and about 14000.00 it about ready to put back in shape. Good luck with the 7!

Damn man that sucks!!!

You were doing soo well with the car. I mean you did a single turbo, you were making your FD a beast. You even bought the BOV from me!!! lol

But damn, are you sure you didnt get throttle happy with the new single setup that made you lose control?? I mean i understand, we all get happy with new goodies but it could have been alot worse. I think god went easy on you with that minor/slightly major accident. You could have been in the hospital or the FD could have been in worse shape, then burst into flames from the hit or something.

Well either way, im glad you are ok and i hope you build it back up. From your history, you didnt enjoy the FD long enough to just give up.

Peace

The Larz gives you the stare of shame for wrecklessly driving on a public road. But it isn't like all of us on here are saints. God I wish I had the cash you have to throw at your FD at age 20. Sell drugs on the side?

You'd better believe it. I've seen this **** too many times. I bought my FD when I was 21, and have somehow managed to avoid wrecking it by not driving like an idiot on public roads or in torrential downpours. At this rate there will be about 5,000 FDs left in the US by 2010

Yes, I definately had to claim this one on insurance...There is no way I could have payed out of pocket to fix this one...I owe roughly 10,000 on the car...And the repair bill is up to 10,123.16 as of right now...

Busted7: Dude I didnt really cry, but I did get extremely sick to my stomach and want to shoot myself when looking at the aftermath the next day...No shame in crying at any age...Mad props for admitting that one

7_rocket: Yes...You are correct...But all forums are harsh...And when joining a forum you have to be ready for the opinions and views of others...Lol...It sucks...But I guess we just have to suck it up...Litterally lol

ulost2my7: Throttle happy?!?! I wish...The car has still yet to be tuned since the single turbo install...It has a base map and it is running extemely rich at the moment...I was making to calls to find Steve to get some tuning done the day befor this happened...The car has never even been over 4,000 since to single install...The ZO6 and I were simply giving the stare down, both giving thumbs up to each others rides..No racing whatsoever...But think about it...If he only knew what I was packin under the hood He wouldnt want anything to do with MYSICK7!!! Lol...P.S. The Bov is kick ***...I love it...Thanks again

Larz: I dont sell drugs on the side...I do smoke some drugs on special occasions..lol..but thats about it...I work at a Dr.s office full time, and part time durning my college classes...I have been there almost 4 years...Not too bad of pay for a young buck...
