Me and a few other guys in the KC area were thinking about trying to get him to come here. Let me know if that is something you would be interested in.

definately sell it to me for $100

but seriously, buy it back, get a new hood, windshield, and lip. Take this oppurtunity to get a vented aluminum hood and a cool-*** lip, while youre at it.

even if the frame were damaged, i bet you could part that out for a profit

I just remembered why everyone I know hates FD owners.

The kid already manned up, admitted he made a mistake, and is repairing the car. Why are the negative comments still being made? I think he has shown remarkable restraint in responding, admitted it was his fault, and is taking the suggested measure of repairing the car.

Sorry to hear that. I bet it was scary huh? lol

Glad to see that your alright and going to fix it up though.

You should be more aware of your surroundings when operating a FD or at least give room for error (hint : not in the streets) lol. Sell me your FD and go get a supra, mustang or srt4 & crash as much as possible. Ohh and don't take this personal.

I sucks to see an FD in that condition . Glad you are OK though.

Totally agree. Bumper, frame, hood seems the only that have been seriously touched. Get the opinion of an expert first. You could save her.

That sucks man. I remeber the time I learned to respect the FD. Cruising on a perfectly straight road, in a light rain. Went to pass the dumptruck in front of me, gave maybe 1/2 throttle at 35 MPH in 2nd, and as soon as I crossed the center line I was instantly facing the other direction. Hit the curb, fucked a wheel up, fucked a fender up, broke a toe link, bent my sway bar link, and bent the **** outta a trailing arm. This all happend a week after I bought the car. But, I got it towed home, and had everything fixed good as new in two weeks. You cant just mope around and beat yourself up for being a momentary jackass. Just get back on track and fix it!

Huh? Who said everyone hates FD owners?

Inexperienced drivers, both skill-wise and mechanics-wise have no right owning this car.

If anyone hates anything it's the oldschool owners getting tired of new kids buying the latest fad car to strike their fancy or what they feel may attract the most attention. Don't **** around with these cars - it's that simple.

Is this a real comment? Lol..I will leave it at that...I kill people like you with kindness..Would it really be neccessary to go into detail about my "Track expierence" ( 1/4 mile and circuit )? Or how about what all cars I have modded out? No..It would not be neccessary at all in this thread...You know nothing about me whatsoever... No need for a comeback after a comment like this...

Thanks,
Shawn

Probably because the kid's being so nonchalant and carefree about it, like "oh yea, I goofed...my bad. Soo... what new setup should I go with next?" He's not demonstrating what would be perceived as a genuine sense of remorse, or a deeper understanding for how grave a situation he was in. And ALL that is ignoring the fact that he managed to seriously damage a pristine, very rare FD (low mileage silver on red), which if you're like me, makes your blood boil.

But hey, a) it's the internet, so you can't really read emotions or attitude too well, and b) while I'm burning b/c of what happened to the FD, the most important thing is that he's ok. Hopefully there won't be a next time, and he'll learn from this experience that when you're in dark unfamiliar territory, it's prob best to slow down...not plow through at 50 mph

My $0.02,
~Ramy

PS: Here in VA, when you're issued a license plate for your car, it comes in a transparent wrap, and printed on it in bright red block capital letters is, "ACCIDENTS DON'T HAPPEN... THEY ARE CAUSED." In that lies a message for those who reflect.

Meh, he is repairing the car. It will be back on the road.

And Clayne, everyone I know (car friends that is) makes fun of Rich and I for having a car with so many caveats. Hate was probably the wrong word, but the fanaticism surrounding this car lends itself to good natured ridicule.

Chunky04 that really sucks.. good to know you are okay... as long as you learn from it then its not all completely Lost (maybee in worse case an FD would be ) but just remember racing a car and winning does not make your ***** bigger.. . as much as we young guys like to think some times (i'm 19) it does not.. just keep your head on your shoulders and you should be fine, now i'de rebuild it and dont get trottle happy....

This is why I like Corvette owners(like myself) the best over so many other car enthusiast clubs. You guys are being way too harsh on this kid who pays for everything with his own money, and even though his baby was wrecked, is showing a positive attitude in getting it put back on the road again, hopefully better than ever. **** happens. Not everything is controllable(black ice anyone?). So why don't some of you just STFU and let him be? I think he's shown far more maturity than half of the people who have posted in this thread.

And that frankly, is quite telling.

sorry to hear about the accident, but i am definatly glad everyone is alright. and one slight flaw in your story, i think, is that if the guy in the z06 was smiling and giving you a thumbs up, dont you think he would have stoped and made sure you were ok? i would even do that for my worst enemy if i saw them crash, but that's just me i guess.

anyway, glad to hear you walked away from it, that's the most important thing. good luck repairing it, keep us updated on what your plans with it are.

I think if you fix the car - bring it back to shape - people will feel alot less pissed off about seeing yet another FD f'd up by carelessness.

Hey guys,

Befor this thread, I planned on selling my baby and getting a fresh unmolested stocker and starting all over...I just assumed the car would never be the same after a hard hit to the front being a unibody and all...

But most of you have givin me the confidence to start over....For all of you who have my back, I really appreciate it...This forum can be unreal sometimes...Lol..The amount of respect I get from just some of the other members is enough to keep me going..You guys were the decideing factor on me keeping or selling the 7....You all should feel special

You will see "MYSICK7" back on the road..You guys just wait

Thanks again all,
Shawn

This is really a common misconception about unibody cars - that after a collision - it will never be the same. Fact is - it's mostly in people's heads. Yes, if you roll the car 15 times - it most likely will not be the same, but in this case it's all front bumper support damage. Pretty standard pole-hit/repair job. Realistically I don't see why this should run you more than 4k to fix (including windshield, etc.)

Another misconception people have is that the roof of the car is one-piece with the rest of the "body." From the factory, the roof is a totally seperate piece welded to the rest of the quarter panels/mid panels.
