Random Technology all the way. It is a great sounding cat which is quiet at lower RPMs, and sounds incredible at higher ones. People have been running them for 7 8 years and had no problem. And the stock Cat is not the best to pass emissions. I live in Cali where he laws are crazy, and my stock cat started to break down inside and i couldn't pass smog. When i installed a HF, i was already running and intake, dp, catcack, and badly ported motor which was very dirty, and it passed from the first time.

I believe that bonez has also been known to pass CA smog. FYI, I had serious trouble passing MA emissions (lived there til 2 months ago) but when I installed my bonez cat I sailed right through.

The best catalytic converter out there on the market i believe is neither of the above listed. The knightsports metalit pro series 200 cell Cat is the best cat out right now especially for rotaries. I have one of my Fd and it runs cleaner and flows more than any high flow cat me or my friends have had on our fd's. In addition to performance gains, it is also very durable and heat tolerant something us rotary guys have had trouble with with other catalytic converters.
The only drawback this cat has is its produced by knightsports a Japaneese company which doesn't really deal with US consumers and it's cats are on the pricey side.
I payed close to $980 for the knightsports pro series 200 cell metalit catalyzer although you can get the 300 cell one for about $750.
scroll down and check it out here http://www2.ocn.ne.jp/%7Eknight78/FD3S.htm
With all that said this is the ideal catalyzer for all kinds of purposes whether your going single turbo, trying to pass emissions or just trying to get better hp gains and run cleaner than your average hi-flow cat without going midpipe. You definitley get what you payed for with this product.
If anyone is interested i will be selling my knightsports cat which has around 4,000 miles on it for $620 + shipping give me a pm.

yes, KS metalit cat is the best for FD, but SMB is closely comparable. they're the only 2 cats i know with metal substrate rather than your typical ceramic ones from Bonz, dynomax, magnaflo...etc...
metal core are claimed to have about 6-7 years of life span. where Ceramic core only lasts about 2 years, and they start to melt due to high rotary heat and you'll begin to smell rotten eggs. Eventually ceramic cores will melt if u don't change it and block your exhaust flow.
i got the SMB from Grant last month.. and i love the craftsmanship. every hinge, welding, engravings are impeccably put together. It is the whole mid pipe + optional resonator. IMO.. SMB is the best bang for your buck

any of these 3" hi-flow Cat from pettit, rx7store, gotham racing or even custom from muffler shop are all fine. they just don't last as long... but are much more affortable
