is it worth the pennies

i wanted feed back. ive got a 93 rx7 with an auto matic tranny, has to be cant drive a stick do to medical. ok i have to rebuild the motor already decided on a street port. now alls i want to know is it worth the single turbo and front mount intercooler, plus the haltech.

this is a go, if i feel its worth it. going to also put a stall converter in it. and maybe the 4.37 rearend gear.

what kinda horsepower am i looking at from a sigle from the double.

has any 1 else built an auto matic, and if so how much horsepower will it handle.

plus what should i do for the turbo, im thinking t78 thats what im getting so far from every 1. with the r32 front mount intercooler.

How much power are you looking to go for? I don't think the automatic tranny will hold more than around 380 rwhp (give or take some HP).

I have heard that STOCK the Auto will only handle 350 FWHP NOT RWHP
even the current Auto models in japan still run only 255FWHP not the 260 or 280 of the 5speeds because MAZDA knows the auto can't take much more - after all it is the same unit they use in the MPV & 929! both of which produce way less than 250HP. With an upgraded Torque Converter and stronger clutches it should be good to 375-400 FWHP So I would stick with upgraded twins or a small single unless you plan on swapping to a beefier Trans, I have heard that some of the GM HydraMatic units can be made to fit.

Not for ME I plan on limiting my Auto to 320rwhp (about 350 fwhp) and staying with the STOCK (or 99 spec. when mine die) Twins.

The lower Gear might be worth it, I have thought about going to the 4.10 from a 5 speed if I can find a good used Ring & Pinion set cheap
a 4.37 will hurt Gas Milage some

yeah the auto tranny is weak
if you leave the car stock and just drive the car normal from 1993 on the tranny is probably slipping right now.
Imagine if you add more pressure to it
it will go for sure with a single turbo eventually
why get a single turbo and limit it to 300 some hp when you can get that out of the Twin setup?

i have to have an auto so i cant change. just ned to make it work. it has 78,000 miles on it now and shifts very good ive already got the car dynoed at 289 rear wheel horsepower with some add ons, it still holding up strong. i guess well just have to see.

about the gear is that going to help performance or hurt the performance you think.

I wouldn't add any more HP than what you already have. 289 rwhp is already a lot for the auto.

BTW, you may need to change the ATF more often because you are putting more stress on it.
