I know Wael, and I know that he values function as well as fashion. Consider that fashion is subjective, and that not all choices are made with fashion at the top of the priorities list.

I'm a 100% supporter of form following function, but I also believe that function yields to necessity. I could put an upside down airplane wing 5' above the car with anchor points behind the hatch and on the roof to increase my downforce, but 1.) It's not necessary and 2.) it's just not necessary.

I'll give him the fact that the rest of the car is great, but I see no reason for having such a monstrosity. Do you think it's the best solution for whatever lift problem he was experiencing (that the rest of us aren't)?

(btw: this post isn't necessarily directed toward you, Max, and I applaud you for looking at both sides of the matter, but.....)

Here is Wael's response:

"That photo is deceptive...I had to get the shot in my narrow garage. Other than that, the car is far more neutral handling, far less understeer. I got the same wing from John Levy & Co. These guys actually push their cars and found good reason to have that wing. It actually works. Which is also why all the FD racecars have something along those lines, if they look at RX-7 magazine they'll see that too.

W"

I didn't aske him whether I can submit this to the forum but I don't think he'll mind.

That pic isn't that flattering because of the angle, I don't think it looks THAT bad, plus it's actually up in the airstream where it'll do some good:

Think of it as a safety feature, if ya ever drive off a cliff you can just fly around and land it somewhere.
