I can smell petrol while turning it over.. With great difficulty i found the 4 spark plugs. i took out the spark plugs two of them were covered in petrol.. I cleaned them then put them back in.. Still wont start PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN... Thanks

1: Pull all four plugs, pull the EGI fuse and the Fuel relay.

2: Crank the engine with the plugs, EGI fuse out and Fuel Relay out 3 time 15 seconds each.

3: Clean plugs, maybe buy new ones if they are really bad. Hell new ones won't hurt ya here.

4: Replace the plugs and make sure you have in the correct order/location.

5: Replace your fuel relay and the EGI fuse. Crank the car. It should fire up. Rev her to about 2 grand and don't let it stall. Don't mind the smoke screen you will produce. It should clear in a few minutes as the car warms up.

If you don't get it started on the first few cranks try the whole thing aver again. You may go through these steps a few times before it finally fires.

Also if it is flooded really bad you may smell fuel in the oil when checking the dip stick. Change your oil. This will help build the badly needed compression. And on the same note if add some MMO, 20w50, or ATF down the intake runners or better yet in the spark plug holes this will help compression to. When doing this crank the engine a few time to circulate the oil. Do this all with the plugs out, EGI fuse out and Fuel relay out. This whole step should be done somewhere in-between two and three if the car does not after going through this whole process twice or so.

If you can drag the car in 2nd gear for a while this will work to, much faster and easier.

Good Luck, don't get discouraged.

If you search for "flooded" you may find more info or others ideas.

But that's only if its flooded and you didn't damage the motor by starving it of fuel (running out).

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.. I will give it a try.. My RX is an automatic so i cant do the 2nd gear thing...

I will purchase a manual on cd com to find the relays you was saying i should remove....

When you say damaged the motor you mean the engine right.. Could i really have done that.. What should my oil pressure gauge be reading when the ignition is on before i start it and what should it be reading when idling..?...

Thank you so much for your advice..

Chris.

No need, You can find the manuals that you need here.

Yes, damaged the motor/engine, by detonation due to lack of fuel. You could have damaged an apex seal, but lets not jump to conclusions yet. (sorry I intermix the two terms like a dumb ***)

How hard were you driving the car when this happened?

Oil pressure before you start the car would be about, zero.

Oil pressure at idle should be about 30psi give or take some.
