Wiring Issues, assistance needed! :)

Hey Guys,

I've been building my FD for the past 6 months so just recently connected the battery up. The only things that are working at the moment are my side indicators, front parker lights, and windows.

No dash lights, pfc commander doesn't come on... when I press the brakes (no fuild) my parkers come on. When I turn the key to ignition, there's no click or flick... no signs of power really....

I tried another plug for the right rear tail light that was there and found that everything else stopped working but allowed beeping when the door is open.

I replaced my TNS relay but made no difference. Fuses seem to be fine. So basically not really getting power and don't really know where to start.

Thanks,

Dennis,

do you have the electrical schematics? you can get them on this forum

if you're electrically inclined just follow the source of power, from the battery to where it's supposed to go, find where it stops and why

it's going to be time consuming and frustrating but the schematics will help a bunch

There is a green plug from the dash harness in the drivers footwell. Its located behind the kick panel, is it connected?

Thans for your help guys.

Ceylon - turns out the plug wasn't plugged in which game my interior lights - thank you.

I also found 2 main blue plugs under the dash that I didn't plug in which gave me hazards.

Still nothing else though... no power to pfc or headunit... or dash lights. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the PFC uses power from them Main engine harness, and has little to nothing to do with the interior lights. There may be a bad ground in your main harness. Has it been removed or replaced lately?

You say dash lights. Do you mean the illumination of the gauges, a/c panel, and stereo? Do the gauges themselves work? If you turn the key to on, but not starting the motor, do all the warning lights come on? (CEL, ABS, etc.) If the gauges work, but don't illuminate, it could either be the illumination switch (little scroll wheel on the a/c panel) or burnt out lights. Seeing as how you plugged in the previously mentioned green plug.

What have you done recentyl to the car? This will help us out to diagnose, and kinda makes this guess work right now, bc we can neither see nor touch your car. The more info the better.

if the illumination switch is not connected (mounted on a/c panel) you will not get dash lights!

Hey guys,

I found a main earth (the one on the positive/negative harness) that wasn't connected so connected that. Still not go but it helps. Everything seems to be getting power... relay/fuses etc... |

I'm downloading the wiring diagram to go over everything. Where are the main earth points? I also have these plugs that i'm unsure where they go

All plugs are already plugged in unless these go behind the dash that i've missed.

looks like the white connects under the glove box. You just have to check back behind the dash where the glovebox is and you will see it. That is your tranny harness.
If your car an auto? that blue wire on the engine harness likes like an auto. The blue one behind everything should have a plug coming off of the engine harness, it controls your fans and thermosensors and a few other things. I believe someone else can correct me if i am wong.
Also be sure that the grounds are connected for the PFC otherwise it may not function correctly.

My FD is a manual, but by the looks of the harness to the transmission, it looks like it was auto. Is the white plug for Auto? So I won't worry about the blue plug... where exactly are the earths to the harness? Thank you.
