wiring and fender problem please help

I installed my boost gauge so i ran it through the fender well into the cabin, doing so i had to pull back that part of the fender well that was tucked under, I'm having a hell of a time putting it back and i don't want to take the ender well off just to put it back in, does anyone have any tricks to get this done? also i'm having a bit of trouble finding a wire to light up the gauge i only have maybe a foot of slack at the floor and i'm hesitant to splice into anything. what wire specifically(if you have pictures i'd appreciate it) do i need to hook up to? or can i maybe attach it to say the headlight fuse so when i turn them on it will illuminate, or some kind of auxillary i can use. I've been using the search and i had found a post with the wire yesterday but am not having any luck thus far again, thanks for all the help

You can take off your cd player or what you have for audio and behind you see the car harness take a multimeter and measure what wire give +12v when you turn on the lights.
It is very easy to find it.
I use this wire for my gauges but I dont remember the color.
If you have after market audio system then you can see what cable is connected to your audio system with description dimmer. That is it.
The after market audio system use this cable to dimmer the lights when you turn on the light.

Also i suggest to use 1 ampere wire fuse.
If you install your new stereo in audio specialist shop is piece of cake for them to find this wire and connect it to gauge.

Dont forget the fuse!!!!!

You can splice into the light for the cigarette lighter, or you can extend the wire and splice into the light for the ashtray. If you do the ashtray light, you'll be able to dim the gauge light with the dash lights. Radio Shack sells splice taps ideal for this kind of stuff
