Wipers are SLOW!
Just recently used my wipers for the first time. The fastest setting crawls along. Is this normal for this car or should I start checking wires for voltage drops?
Well, I had exactly the same problem and my problem was the left side wiper linkage axle was rusted almost stuck. I had to dismantle the whole system, clean and lube it up and now it works like a charm.
Mine did that ,only ran slow .I found the brushes were worn out and the dealer does not sell them . I bought alternator brushes and filed them to fit .Life is good in the rain .
Haha, is there a part of this car that somebody cant comment on? I mean seriously, there is so much info on this forum you could easily work on any aspect of the FD. Maybe thats the reason im on here everyday...
Two things... The wiper motor has two windings. If it doesn't speed up from the first to the second switch setting, it could be a brush in the motor. Good news is that you can take it all apart and fix it...Clean the brushes and stator and it will work fine for another 10 years. Don't take it apart on a **** carpet, there are some small pieces I think.
Otherwise it could also be a ground which is located inside the front bumper in front of the air intake.. The ground is suseptible to corrosion and thus a poor connection.

Alternate (possible) slow wiper fix
I had "slow" wipers and I found that the part that was stiff was the "wiper axle" in the housing that bolts to the sheetmetal. To clarify, I'm calling the "axle" the part that the wiper blade bolts to.
I used some oil and worked it continuosly for some time to let it work it's way in and it seemed to help out. Um, I took my entire housing out thinking it was the linkage but in retrospect, if you think you have this issue, you could apply some oil from up top prior to removing the entire unit. I'm not really sure how the "official" way to lube these would be, there doesn't appear to be any way to take them apart.
I'm in the south and my linkages were in pretty good shape as far as rust free and moving free. I guess salt from roads or beaches might affect the linkage and require that to be lubed up occasionally.
Hope this helps someone out.

Yup, i have the same problem.
INT and normal setting is SLOW.
Fast setting is at normal speed.
I dont drive the car ever in the rain to actually care and/or fix.
So ill leave it alone.

^ Yeah, me neither - I got bored and decided to do it. Started cleaning my engine bay and thought that sounded more productive for whatever reason... Funny.
Hehe yeah i get those bored moments too.
LIke if its too hot to drive or i just came back from cruising, ill think of something i could fix or alter, or simply clean the car. lol
Speaking of little nik naks, when the weather gets warmer, i need to do my valentine one radar detector hardwire to the dome light lol

I wish I still had the original wiper with that deflector in it!
