windshield wipers are always same speed?

Does anyone know what would cause this? It doesn't matter what setting (except off) my wipers run at the same speed even on intermittent it runs the same. Any ideas?

The wipers on The -7- CAN'T Lose!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I would take the switch apart, and inspect what is going on inside there. It sounds like something is actuating all of the contacts inside the switch instead of each indiviual one.

Is the speed is very slow, the brushes may be bad . Garfinkle s did that and new brushes are not sold for the unit , or he could not find them .He made new ones from another set,( filed them to shape ) .

I have the same problem, after I took my dash appart. I suspect I left something disconnected on the steering collum, I remember seeing a loose plug. But I figured it might be for the rear wiper which I'm missing anyhow... R1

thats an idea. I took my dash apart to paint before. Maybe I left something unplugged. if something was unplugged would it cause it to default to a specific speed or would it cause it to not work at all?

starters ,altinators, electric motors generators , ect have brushes that contact the armiture of the spinning shaft . My spelling may be off . The brushes are made of carbon and wear out before the copper contacts that they rub against .Thats what I understand ,if you think this is your problem, I will give you David s number .

My guess is that it would not work at all, if unplugged. The switch I was referring to is the **** itself.
