window regulator differences

I have a 93 fd and my driver side window reg. is bad. When i went to find a replacement i was told that there is a difference between a 93 vs 94-95. Does anyone know the difference, and are they interchangable?

Only difference I know of is...the '94 and '95 models have 'one touch down' capability...can't imagine the hardware part of the window being different.

yea, i have the same problem. on mazdatrix you can only order the whole powe window assembly (motor and slide track thing together) but for the 94 and up you can get the motor seperate from the slide track, it'd definately be much cheaper to order only the motor for the 94 and up, but i'd hate to get it and find that it doesnt work.

Make sure it's getting 12v before condemning the regulator. Oxidized switch contacts are a very common issue with FDs.

Yea, there is a difference in the mechanism, but I don't know exactly what it is. Factory replaced my PS window regulator under warantee with an "updated" part back in '96 and it was slower and noiser than the original '93 part. It eventually broke and I swapped it out with a used '93 part which works fine.
