Custom LED tail lights

I made some LED tail lights from stuff on ebay awhile back and I finally put them on my car. I think they came out pretty nice.

Interresting idea, I would have used smaller LEDs and more of them.
You should really practise on your soldering, it looks like it's not going to hold up.

There was someone from CA around here that did a great job for LED tails (roxshox or something like that) but was way too expensive.

I agree in getting the LED density much higher. You can get PCBs pretty inexpensively that are already etched to your design so you don't have to barf solder all over the place.

And you don't need to have the absolute brightest LEDs. That's the beauty of light. Get a shitload of smaller, less bright LEDs and add them all up...it'll be plenty bright.

I was thinking of some SMDs. You can get really creative with those. I have an extra set of tails at home...maybe this is the motivation I needed.

Keep up the work.

I could do a write up but its pretty basic. Yeah my soldering sucks ahah. I put a lot on though so it would come loose. My orginal idea was to use smaller led like the other guy on the forum but it would be a lot more work and I kinda like the bigger ones better. I kinda modeled it after the sexy style fc tail lights. I will do a post a bit of a write up later.

Very nice. Is that an authentic 99spec center tail or is it converted?

I think its just the way the picture is because the center section is stock.

I think the density should be higher.

Something like this:

and sorry to dig up an old thread, but I was wondering if this guy is still on here, or still doing these. I emailed via the website, but have not gotten a response yet. Anyone remember which member on here it was?
