Will i beat him?

My freind has a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am. He is putting a 350 in it. From what i know he has this stuff : New pistons, new cam, but left the old connecting rods in it. he is doing a little work to his heads but not fully porting and poslishing them. but im not sure about his carbartor or intake. and he has hooker headers and no cats for his exhuast. he has a 4-speed and i think something like 3 73 gears but not sure. his car i think weights around 3500 pounds or maybe a little more not sure again. I was just wondering if he would have any chance of taking me and what hp u think he will get out of that? if you need more info ill try to ask him about his car. and my rx-7 now has a apexi n1 exhuast and apexi cold air on it.

you should take him definitely from a roll, and possibly from a dig.

Your description is pretty vague.."he has pistons.." I hope he does, car would run like **** without them

There is really no way to tell from the information you have posted. Without specifics (cam type/size, type/yr of head, valve size, flat or domed pistons, carb/intake type) If all of the components are stock or close to stock, you'll probably win (his car would likely run in the mid to upper 14's). If all of the unknows that I listed are VERY high performance he could easily be in the 11's and would smoke you.

I went 12.2 in my 1978 t-top trans am (hence the name) This was with a pontiac 400, 10.5:1 compression... cam, Rpm Intake, Holley 750 dual feed carb, flowmaster headers 3'' all the way back, engine .030 over, full msd ignition, 4.10 posi rear, mickey thomson slicks 10.5 inchers, completely stock weight (maybe even heavier) and a little helping of naws.

The car should have done 11's but if you notice i didnt say anything about upgrading the transmission :P It was a turbo hydromatic 350 3 speed with stock torque converter until I blew third gear out of it on that run.

I built her from the ground up but now shes collecting rust while my rx7 is collecting miles
