I've searched and saw one or two people who said their rattles cleared up with an engine torque brace. Anyone else experience this ??
I have a B&M short shifter that just went in and has a slight rattle, but enough to annoy me. It is not rubbing anything in the tranny tunnel and I've read through this http://www.mazdatrix.com/shiftrat.htm
Also, I'm wondering how true it is where some people say they've switched from B&M to say Mazdatrix and the noise went away. According to the Mazdatrix link above, ALL of the shifters they tested randomly rattled.
Any info. is appreciated.

My B&M rattled with a Razo shift **** and engine brace; probably too light in mass and so resonance frequency matched?
switched to OEM shift **** and it reduced like 80%. There is still gear whine you can hear though. The action of the B&M seems crisper and alot quicker than the Mazdaspeed one. But the downside is the rattle and gear whine.

Well, I've talked to several people who have the B&M with no rattles. I did switch back to the stock shift **** and still rattles. Thanks for the info. on the engine brace.

B&M shifter, RX-8 shift **** and feed-style torque brace and it rattles only at certain rpm while accelerating. I reused the plastic bushing, somebody said if replaced with a new one it'll stop rattling but I haven't done it yet

Sonny, can you briefly explain how you did this ? Thank you.
Here's my thread on how I fixed the rubbing.

When I installed a short-shifter in my Mustang GT, I had a rattle as well. Turned out it was the aluminum **** I installed to go with it. To fix, I wrapped the threads on the shifter with a little bit of plumbing pipe tape. Try that out and see if it does the trick.
I really never saw why they rattle. I cant speak for the B&M style since its a different design, but like the Mazdaspeed and C`s if you put it together right make sure your mounting bolts are actually seated not only just tight and the gaskets are in there and you have the proper shift ****, i dont see why it would rattle..
