Wierd boost readings?
I just got my boost gauge and I think i hooked it up right. Anyway, when I turn my car on, it was at like -22 (by negative i mean the VAC side) then when I started driving it went to about -8. When I drove it hard it was around 0-5psi. I know it sounds confusing...
I know the pattern supposed to be 10-8-10 but my pattern was all screwed up... i dont think i can call it a pattern. I dont know if I hooked it up right or what...
Check out the pics, it shows how i installed it.
***IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE A HELPFUL POST DONT EVEN BOTHER POSTING... SERIOUSLY!***
***I'm not making a post such as "where do i connect the hose to...." or "how do i read my gauge..." etc... instead of flaming me go waste your time and flame them.
Thanks again for the helpzzzz
btw if u need some info, its an autometer sportcomp and its the 3301 if you want to look it up.
thanks again!

ok in other words, when idling, i was at like 20-22In.HG, when driving normally i was at like 10-15In.Hg. When I drove it hard (not fully warmed) it was like 0-5psi. I'm pretty sure its wrong because my friend (JanusSolSummons in the forums) drove in my FD and when I did take him for a ride he told me the boost felt just about right. What is wrong!?!?!!?! I've been sitting here searching, EVEN GOOGLE!

What rpm does your car idle it?
The idle vacuum reading seems about right (depending on your idle rpm). As far as the boost, the FIRST thing you need to do is a proper boost test:

Just find a nice stretch of open road/highway and take 3rd gear WOT up to around 6000 rpms. Your boost pattern starts once the gauge moves out of vacuum and to 0 before boost.

Do the boost test and post back your results of the boost pattern.

Call me gramps!
Don't boost your car before it's warmed up. Get to a straight road, where you're going ~35mph in 3rd gear, punch it to redline. Monitor the boost at 3000rpm/4500RPM/~6,000rpm, and that will give your boost pattern. We need your boost pattern before we can really tell you anything.

Ok I just finished doign the test. Believe it or not, my pattern was pretty much 7-7-7. I was on a nice straight road, got to 3rd year... floored it and at 3k RPM it was 7, at 4.5k it was 7, then at 6k it was 7 also. Hrmmmmm.....

Check the two solenoids on the front of the UIM. Try switching the connections and see if that changes anything. If not, put them back then check for the boost pills:

The car has 90k original miles, I do have an exhaust leak somewhere by the turbo/manifold (could that be it???) I did have a vacuum hose leak which made my car idle at 1500RPM's but I believe I fixed it because now my car idles anywhere from 850-1000 (its pretty random) but when the car is fully warm it idles at about 1100 when not in gear, and about 900 when I am in gear. Hope some of that info helped, thanks!

Regarding your boost issues,..first do as Mahjik suggested, then rule-out IC pipe/Intake pipe boost leak.
Good Luck.

These are the lines that contain the boost pills, you'll have to remove your intake to access them.
Here are the two solenoids Mahjik spoke of, you can tell which connector goes to whict solenoid as one will have a white 'marker' on it. This marking can sometimes get worn off though and can make it hard to tell which connector goes where.
Only try one solution at a time... trying multiple things may counter-act the proper solution.
