a 13B wont sound like a V8 but a rotary in genral can.
have you ever heard a sound clip of the 787B with the 26B idle? that sounds like a V8 with a monster @$$ cam.

26b sounds like a f1 car
i also like the v8 rumble, but you cant have the best of both worlds, unless your jimlab or one of the other v8- converson owners. keep up the kick *** work jim, i love the 90+ page thread you have going. lots of useful info!
(best of both worlds being the v8 sound and the fd looks imo)

I love the sound of the 787B. I got to say, the racing beat dual when you let off the gas and decelerating it sounds bad ***, realy low rumble.

I have tried numberous ones.

www.powertone.com sounds like a v8 power boat at ideal and WOT more like a bike/italian exotic.

No regrets.
Hey Batman do you have a sound clip or a pic? Also i looked at there site and they dont have a application for a rx-7. Do you just by the tips and the muffler and fabricate your own pipe? Could you tell me what you need to buy? Really intrested in trying this out. Thanks

If you want your FD to sound like a V8, throw on a flowmaster exhaust on it and blow an apex seal. That's what happened to mine and it sounded like it was a V-8, I had a midpipe too but you know what I mean.

Unfortuently I don't, but take my word for it.

One of the things I want to do to bring it to the "next" level in sound is to do a flowmaster for a resonated midpipe in conjunction with the powertone tips.

BTW, powertone is located in so cal..... perhaps u can drop by and check it out in person.

i absolutely love the sound of mine. streetport, DP, MP, N1 dual. everyone compliments the sound. it's a very smooth firing sound unlike a pulsy V8 or 6 (which i love too). but it's very beefy, raspy sounding withOUT that fart cannon "slapping" sound. like a very high displacement sportbike that has a lot of throat to it.

which is weird because i agree, i don't usually like the sound clips i find online of other people's 13b's. not that i've seen a lot though.

Eh, the PFS exhaust isn't *that* loud. Actually, it's pretty quiet compared to the Blitz/DualN1/etc. exhausts. Though, the PFS is probably one of the best sounding exhausts for the FD, while also flowing really well. My only grip with it is the huge 4" tip. Still, I wouldn't trade my PFS exhaust for anything.

I have a magnaflow 3"inlet 3"outlet oval muffler and an Apex GT spec exhaust. It has a very solid smooth sound to it kind of like a V8 with no rumble, or a jet flying by, when you step on it it just gets louder and louder.

I can't believe you want your RX-7 to sound like a mustang. Of all the cars I can think of the mustang is the worst I have ever heard. I hear them going down the street and it is sad they are so loud and such pieces.

Mustangs were cool in the 50's. The 93ish model looked decent but the latest one is awful. And it is a Ford. I would never own a Ford if one was given to me. I have driver almost every rental car available on business and the Ford Escape is the only decent car Ford has going. I drove a Mustang and it was the biggest piece I have ever driven, worse than their Sedan Taurus. The body roll was unbelievably bad. The handling was awful. Lack of hp. I can't believe people own them.

I have the RSR Black Canister Dual tip exhaust with a downpipe, stock non ported engine and stock midpipe. It sounds lovely. Not too loud, nice throaty exhaust tone. Sounds lovely when I am still in the house after a drive and the turbo timer is running in the garage. It sounds beautiful when the turbo timer shuts the car off and I know to shut the garage door with the remote. Makes kind of a bulley bull blop sound. lol

Sorry about ******* the Mustang but they are awful and this is a Mazda forum.

Cheers,
Joseph

i second tekno62's opinion. Any mustang older than 69 is total ****. And even then, the only REAL performers were the shelby's....and thats not even a mustang anymore. And in any case, the Vette is still America's true sportscar!

The rotary engine exhaust note is the song of a 2 stroke motor. You can spend next years rent on different exhaust systems, it will never sound like a valved 4 stroke engine. Its like asking Sinatra to immitate Dean Martin... Aint gonna sound right... Enjoy what you got!!!

I have the exhaust modes in my sig.

The idle is a looww rumble, V8ish I suppose.

at high rev its pretty loud I would say medium compared to the N1/Blitz's, etc.
