Stock shift **** install

When I bought my car, the person before me had replaced the shifter, but kept the original. I want to put the original back on but it doest fit. There is white plastic lining on the inside and it is to narrow to fit on the post. It also isnt threaded. Im positive its the original. Were these a one time deal and once you take it off your SOL. Or can someone take a picture of the bottom of there stock shift **** for me. Something just isnt right. Thanks for any help.

Should screw right on, I've taken the stocker off several times, it should be threaded.

mine has the plastic. Its not threaded until the inner top half of that plastic. Push it on and THEN screw it down.
