Why is it so hard?

Hey guys, well today i was chillin on my drive way with my fd and my neighbor just got a mustang gt and he pulled in to his drive way. The exhaust sounded soo nice. I was thinking why is all the Rx-7 Fd exhaust all sound like ****? No offence to any one, it just my opinion. I have a RB Dual on right now and I think its the only good sounding exhast in the market right now that I heard, but its too quiet. I see M3's, G35 and so on and they sound awsome. Is it hard to produce a good sounding exhaust with a rotary engine? I want a dual tip exhaust just like the RB dual with the tips made 3 and a half inch wide , have a realy low rumbling sound like the mustang gt and realy loud when accelerating so the cars next to you with the windows rolled up can hear you. I hope they release some new exhaust sometime soon, lately there hasnt been new exhaust in the market . Just wondering, please dont flame.

I love my PFS straight thru exhaust. It's so damn loud it drowns out any V8 in the area at full song.......they're usually behind me anyway, so I can never hear them

Simple truth, you aren't going to make a rotary sound like a V8 no matter what exhaust you stick on it.

Yup, Mahjik is right... I have a Mustang Cobra and I won't even try getting my 7 to sound like it.

I gotta back up Rich on that one. 1 part PFS catback, 1 part Midpipe, 1 part downpipe. 3 parts ported engine makes one badass chainsaw sounding rotary. It will stay on my car for a long time to come.

I laugh at mustangs loud bark with little bite.

Actually, the number of cylinders and their firing order make the exhaust sound the way it does. But you're right, increasing the number of cylinders being fired does usually results in increased displacement.

If it's not loud enough, get rid of your catalytic converters. If you've already done that, convert to non-sequential. If that's not loud enough, get your hearing tested.

Even with a stock cat-back and a Borla XR-1 in the mid-section, my car was still loud enough non-sequential that when it was on the dyno, everyone but the operator backed out of the bay holding their ears.

suburu boxer engines - 4 cylinders but an awesome v8-ish note (with appropriate exhaust).

To an extent. The engine plays the biggest role in the sound. If you are looking for a V8 sound, you purchased the wrong car.

Wouldn't it be more fun to be able to kill all the modded V8's with a quiet car? I'd love to see the look on the guy with the Mustangs face when he's sitting there setting off car alarms revving his engine, and your near stock exhaust can't be heard, but then you kick the crap outta him. It'd make him think twice about how loud the exhaust needs to be.

IMO, rotaries sound awesome. Just because they're different than anything else. They won't ever sound like a V8, but so what? Enjoy being different, it adds a bit of mystery to the car.

I like going fast, but I also like carrying on normal conversations or listening to music while cruising on the highway. I prefer the "angry bumblebee" exhaust note of the rotary to a V8 anyway.

the closest to a v8 exhaust sound for the rotary is what I have.

I have tried numberous ones.

www.powertone.com sounds like a v8 power boat at ideal and WOT more like a bike/italian exotic.

No regrets.

I totally agree 911GT2 and kento. The sound of a well tuned turbo rotary is hard to beat (especially that dentist drill on steroids part).

i have a much cooler louder sound than those v8's around here...

I personally LOVE the way it sounds at idle. Such a nice smooth low purr... Like a cat. A real nice kitty. A real nice MALE kitty, with claws. Heh heh...

Hell yeah! A little roid rage drill, then some BOV. That just can't be beaten.

A friend of mine just set an open-wheel motorcycle record of over 250 mph on a turbo Suzuki Hayabusa last weekend at the Maxton topspeed time trials. The bike's chassis and bodywork are basically stock.

Sorry to get a little off topic here...
