Why is everyone's tach different ?
I've noticed that not all 3rd gens have the same tach. More interesting, I've seen same year models as mine and it also was an R2, have different tachs. By different I mean my tach has the little hash marks all the way arouhd it (showing the 100 rpm incraments), I see many cars that only have the 500 rpm incraments.
Does anyone know what's up with this?
Thanks

Mine is also a 95 but does NOT have the 100rpm hashmarks. I think in 93 they all have the 100 rpm marks but after that only the R2 package has it. Seems like thats what I've noticed

As far as I know, only the 93 models had the little hash marks. After the 93 model year they had to "redisign" the dash layout because they introduced the passenger side airbag. That's when they went to the 500rpm increments. It was all part of the complaints that people were making to make the car "softer".
I actually wanted all the little hash marks. But in the end, the "redsign" fits me better...
All later models had the 500rpm increments....

I have a '95, but I like the '93 tach with all the little hash marks much better. It looks more real, or technical, or something, to me.
On the other hand, when I'm driving fast, I can barely keep up with the tach moving in 1,000 rpm increments, so I guess it doesn't make a functional difference. The busier one just looks better in my opinion.
