okay so a couple days ago my car started to make a funny whooshing noise but when i was driving the car everything was fine. i didnt feel any loss in power and my boost gauge says im properly boosting.. the noise sounded like it was coming from the driver's side, under/near the elbow (sorry i dont know what its called) after the intercooler. its not a leak in the IC ducting because i have a greddy smic and i checkd the couplers. please help, and thanks.

if you getting proper boost you dont have a leak in the intake track.

i know but i had to check everything to make sure i cant find where the sound is coming from and what is causing it. it never made that sound until 2 days ago. i have 90k miles on the original engine.

does it only make the sound when letting off the gas?
does it only do it when pushing the gas??

i really dont want to bring it to my local rotary shop and have him charge me $114/hr labor for something that i can fix myself. thats my last resort.

Try the compressed air trick. Close off the intake system and attach an air hose to one of the vacuum connections. Then find the hiss and you've got your leak.

I don't know, it sure sounds like a boost leak. If your positive it's at the elbow, there's an 'O' ring there. Is it possible that it's small enough that your not feeling any power loss and your turbos are compensating enough that it's not showing up on the guage?

if its that small of a boost leak would the sound be so noticeable? its like hearing a vacuum cleaner in the engine bay. its coming from somewhere near the elbow but i do not think it is the elbow itself.
