Who is running the new 2mm 2 piece OEM Mazda Apex Seals?
Dang.. I just read the whole thing..
I'm going to print it out and show it to my engine builder.. He's not much of a computer guy..
Luckily I still have new set of 3 piece seals.. i'll put that in my next engine.. if this 2 piece fails.

this read has gotten me all worried, but what i'm getting from this thread is that the 2 pc mazda seals are warping due to heat. either from running some kind of port, or running more than 13.5 lbs of boost. my motor is stock (no porting) and will probably not be running more than 13.5lbs of boost any time soon. do i have to worry much? and if this rumor/fact is true about the seals warping, with stock ports what's the max boost i could run?

thats some bs right there. Damn mazda, why do they always have to be screwing **** up. My engine has already been put together with 2mm mazda seals......I really really hope these don't give way or I'm gonna be very very pissed off! If they do give before my warrenty I will have them throw RA seals the next time. RA are climbing to the top of the best apex seal chart almost. If they improve upon them again then I will be very happy.
I just explained the situation to my builder and he's sure its the porting shape.. I don't remember if there was a pic of the port or not, but if there is, can someone email it to me so that I could show it to my builder: philipsohn2004@yahoo.com
without seeing it and as soon as I said reverse "D" port, he (my engine builder) immediately said, its most likely due to the port shape and usually cause heat to build up.

Well, I'm not too concern.. More I think of it and talking with my builder, it seems more like the port issue than seal issue.. If mine goes bye bye.. I have another spare engine that I'm going to use my 3 piece. Luckily I have brand new 3 piece seals.

The previous KDR motor failed from a chipped front rotor apex seal after 18000 miles/18months of use. KDR built the motor from a Malloy reman which used 3-pc seals.
KDR's port job was only slightly larger than stock. I'm having Zavier increase the port size on the new motor (new front rotor housing and rotor).

. These problems might be traced to the shape of the exhaust port---the now infamous "Upside Down D"......Maybe or a very few seals from the first batch could be out of spec just like the RA seals were.
Has anyone with these failed Mazda seals measured them before installation to see if they were in spec?
