What experiences are you all having with them? I am hearing rumors of problems with them in anything higher than stock boost......

 

The new 2mm, 2 piece (Mazda) seals are warping.

 

I have heard people having problems with the new seals. It this point it could just be hearsay, but from what I've heard I wouldn't use them in my engine.
I've heard a lot of good things about them improved RA seals. I like the NRS ceramics, but my wallet doesn't like the price.

 

so do you think the remans are comming with the new mazda 2 peice seals???????

 

No doubt, that's all they make now.

 

Like new 2 piece as in newer then the other 2 piece? Or newer then the 3 piece? I've always heard great things about the 2 peice seals from mazda.

Chris, I purchased my 2 piece seals (that are in my new motor) back in mid Feb. I am hoping that the problems people are experiencing are a recent bad batch. Any input? I am hoping to not have to tear into the motor to replace them......

this is not something i wanted to hear....

 

I know that you can't use the *RX-8* apex seals. They're not designed for a peripheral exhaust port - the heat of that port warps the seals. Not to mention they're not supposed to fit properly on earlier 13b rotors. Does Mazda have an old 13b 2-piece application?

Yes, all seals are now 2 piece.

 

I am not doubting you by any means, but are there any write ups or other sources of information that show proof to this? I am going to be getting a new motor and if these seal are likely to warp, I would like to know why and which seals I should get instead. Anybody have input as to why these seals "warp"?

 

I heard the rumors too. sucks to be honest because I think it's true.

 

I've put about 10,000 miles on my RA seals on 16.5 lbs with no problems so far. Hopefully they last a lot longer. But everything is peachy and it still pulls just like it did when I got it tuned. I'm sure someone may have had an issue with it, but I haven't heard too many reports of bad seals from the so called "unbreakable seals". I will be pretty upset if they do go bad anytime soon because I would have to change the little saying below my name.

Almost went with the Mazda OEM's but opted for the Atkins 2mm seals.

 

as did I... the atkins seals have never given me any trouble

 

did you have the atkins seals in your car when you made all of those videos of you shooting flames constantly

 

hmm well I seem to be a victom of these seals.. not sure yet but I will let you guys know when i find out..

 

I just got my new engine built with the new 2mm, 2piece OEM seals.. Damn. I even had the 3 piece but my builder thought it will handle more power.. seemed logical by theory that it would.. I guess I'lll find out! Engine will be going in in next couple of months..

 

Hmm. why would mazda change a good thing, guess that want rebuilds to be more frequent? $$$$$$$$$$

 

Maybe the decided to apply the same process they are using for the RX-8 seals to the FD seals...I guess they must think all FDs are still running stock 10psi boost.

 

this sucks for everyone....i'm glad i was bold and got the rotary aviation seals despite their newness, but having mazda put out questionable quality seals is bad for everyone

 

8 full track events on the new seals but less than 3000 miles total on them. So far so good. Only run 11 lbs of boost though...

I broke 2 of the new two piece OEM seals on the dyno @ 13.5psi with an A:F around 11.7. I did find a poorly installed (pinched) primary injector insulator on the front rotor (one that blew), not sure if that could have caused the lean condition...if so, I want my money back from the shop that installed it

 

When did you purchase them from mazda?
