Question Who has the Torex T55 Socket?!?!

Okay, my tranny has a small lil leak coming from the upper filler hole on the tranny. I've figured it's a T55 torex socket i need to either tighten it or take it out and threadlock kit. so WHO MAKES A T55 torex!?!?

I went to craftsman, harbor frieghts, searched online and the larges they DO make is T50.

I know i'm not taking my car to mazduh for them to fix this lil leak that i KNOW i can fix myself. Ideas on sources for this thing? thanks in advance.

I bought a T-55 Torx at Sears last week. It's not that uncommon of a socket. They didn't sell the T-55 in any sets, but they had them packaged all by their lonesome hanging on the wall.

if its a square headed bolt your talking about I just used a cresent wrench on it

nmikeyP, okay, i'll check sears out. was it a craftsman tool though? I went to the craftsman website and only found T50 to be the largest. thanks.

SPOautos, i know that the square headed bolt is the "real" filler bolt, but the leak is from the T55 bolt. Thanks guys.

I believe it was a craftsman. I think that is all they sell at sears. It was all black.

I will have to go home to check what writing is on the side, but if you go to Sears, I am sure they can help you out.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but my question is a tangent... if the "real" filler bolt is completely fucked up can one fill the tranny from the T55 bolt? I've got the T55 bolt off, but I want to confirm before I change out the fluid in the tranny. I'll check my shop manual as well, but I'd like some extra assurance.

If the sears one was all black then it wasn't craftsman. I thing Lisle makes them.

the T55 bolt is actually higher than the real filler bolt. You will indeed fill the tranny with 1 quart too much. To be safe, i would fill the exact amount of tranny fluid and stop. but with the real filler, you fill until it drips out.

I'll search sears tomorrow or tonight and fine that damn socket. Thanks guys.

I just went to Autozone last week and bought a T55. they're not uncommon.

I bought my T55 socket from sears this morning for $4.99.This was a pretty small sears location so finding it shouldn't be too hard...

Filling the tranny shouldn't be a problem for me, because I can measure out the proper amounts with my Mity Vac tool(essential for any tranny/diff fluid replacement). I couldn't find any mention of the T55 bolt in the shop manual, but sticking my finger in the hole I felt the gears inside.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts... I didn't want to chance anything with my 1st gen down for the count.

Well I'm done changing my oil, now it's time for the tranny's turn.

Can't PUT RACHET AND SOCKET IN

Okay, i managed to find a T55 socket for use with a 1/2 rachet. Here is the deal, the socket and the rachet will not fit in the area provided. The socket is a bit on the long side since it extends.

Tips tips tips? Or is there even a way i can spray something on the bolt to make it seal up more? All i need to do is take out the bolt and put some threadlock or some teflon on it and screw it back in so it will stop leaking!! THanks

Sears makes some little things that have a half inch square socket on one end like your ratchet does and a hex head on the tip. In this way, you can put it in the space with the T55 and then use a regular wrench on the end with the hex on it.

T55 is a common size. Should be able to find it anywhere tools are sold.

I kinda tired that actually. My T55 socket has an area where it's a hex head. Which is roughly a 10mm for a wrench. and the problm is that 10mm wrenches aren 't big whatsoever thus no torque. Another problem is that trying to yank that much torque out of 10mm isn't good. I dont' have a breaker bar, but not sure if it could fit. Or if they make teh T55 in a 3/8 drive that could work. thanks for the tip. Maybe i should just go to sears and see what i can figure out.

They make the T55 in an 3/8" drive. I know they sell them at Autozone for like $5 or $6. If it doesn't work for you, just return it
