Jason, I never made a thread about the incident I had with you and really don't feel like digging up something that I feel for the most part was made good. However, to say that it was install issue with the mechanic is total BS. I have the pictures to show the engine was faulty and the crap you tried to feed me over the phone truly showed how much you guys know about the rotary. Everything my mechanic said about the engine I verified with numerous other Respected Rotary Shops. Jesse knows more about these cars then you or you're builder could ever dream, in fact he's been working on them considerably longer then you guys, he just doesn't own a store. Now I appreciate that you made good with everything and will leave it at that.

You have pictures of the problems with your motor? Please email them to me because I would love to see them considering it was never taken apart and inspected by your installer. I do have plenty of pictures here that I took documenting there was no issue with the engine. How would another rotary shop verify the engine was the problem if they never saw it?
Sorry but your installer does not do half the amount of work we do. As I recall he works out of his garage at home. He admitted to me he doesnt work on that many RX-7's and called me for some advice. Nothing against him as he seemed like a nice guy.

Like I said there was not a thing wrong with that engine. How is your current engine running?

Something to consider: Often times a perfectly good engine is built to spec, and then the owner goes out and destroys it due to carelessness/negligence/ignorance.

I do offer a 1 year warranty on engines I build that cover assembly/porting related defects. But with a rotary engine that is modified for high performance and will undoubtedly be raced, the warranty is basically a startup/shake down warranty. Once the car has a successful dyno tune, you can consider it a good motor. This is assuming that the engine was built by someone with a brain---all bearings are pressed in correctly, the appropriately bolts are lock-tighted and torqued to spec, the front cover stack is installed correctly with endplay within spec, etc.

The Engine that I have now is running fine but it does have low compression on the front housing, I think it came in at like 6.6 or 6.8 and the back one was 7.8 or 7.9. However, it is a pretty happy engine and whenever I've started it up this winter its been fine, just waiting for the spring to get it back on the road. Jason, like I said I'm happy that everythings been cleared up and really don't feel like bringing up something that is almost a year old. Jesse has the pictures that he took so I can't just email them to you, if you really want them I can probably get them. I know Jesse doesn't do as much work as your shop but I also know about the quality of the work that he does. Regarding speaking with other shops its fairly easy to describe the issue I was having and figuring out a potential diagnosis. Claiming the engine had no problems yet had serious mechanical issues really makes me question your companies ethics. Anyways this topic is like beating a dead horse. You guys made everything good and I dont see the need to keep discussing this.

I was giving an engine builder's perspective, and agreeing with Jason and Karack---saying "they built my motor, and it blew up" doesnt mean **** .

If you look at that feedback most of it is from 3-4 years ago. I will be the first to admit we were under staffed and overworked Im still overworked but easier to keep up.
The last couple on there I wont even comment on as each of them is a long story. Can always call me about them if interested.

What I have been trying to do it set a specific date that a customer brings their car in. As soon as we get it we will begin the rebuild. In 6 years of watching well known shops build these engines, I have heard bad feedback from some people on some of the best and most well known places. When you build these motors in volume like RX7 store, Petit, Gotham, KDR, JPR, ect, you are building for both people who will take care of the car, and people who will blow it up one day in. I am sure mixed in somewhere is a few mistakes here or there, but my belief is that the key is to look at the overall feedback, and if the vast majority is happy, you are probably in good shape.

If you have all the parts, it only takes a few hours for assembly for the short block. The majority of the time is in the cleaning and measuring of the existing parts.

You should check out www.banzai-racing.com They do great work and have the best customer service. I drive 4 hours to get my car there and know people that have driven farther. It is a good idea to look around before you put out so much money.

I took my car to jason back in july .They did a street port and fixed some other issues i had with the car. It took a little longer then expected . I can't complain I'm realy happy with the work they did.

bought my fd in columbus( 3 hours from me) about 7 months ago....and the guy i bought it off of had the turbo's rebuilt by jason's shop...there still working...
i'll probable go there for my street port...maybe at the end of the year sometime..
either way you'll see me there this summer, ill take the road trip to meet some other rotary guys...

They rebuilt mine about 2.5yrs ago, and she is still going! I think its time for another rebuild tho.
(my fault). I took a trip to SanAntonio, and my car overheated for some reason. Now I have a small coolant leak prob due to a possible coolant seal failure. I have a reason to rebuild with upgrades now
