White smoke while driving? Engine? Turbos?

Recently every now and then I've had white smoke come out from the exhaust when I am driving. It has the normal puff of white smoke when I first start up the car after it's been sitting for a couple of days, but lately, if I'm up in the higher RPM range and I let off the gas or sometimes after a WOT run when I go to shift, it'll sometimes backfire and I will see a trail of white smoke in my rear view mirror for a while.

Is this a sign of my engine going bad or turbos or something else?

white smoke usually relates to water inside the engine. Check gastkets and any cracks where water can get into the engine. Maybe u sucked up water through the intake somehow?

Dreaded coolant seal leak.....Test your coolant system with a pressured tester system.

are sure it's white? not bluish...

are you having hard cold starts? Does your car idle like **** when cold? higher than normal water temps? <--- those are indicative of engine coolant seal failure

Probably coolant seals. Are you using coolant?

Some white smoke is perfectly normal. If you have a lot of smoke and hard starts and you're coolant level is dropping, then something is wrong. Stick your head near your exhaust, does it smell sweet? If so, then you're burning coolant. Else you're fine.

Funny story about my pressure test

I had mine pressure tested because someone wanted to buy it and it had some symptoms. At the shop I stayed to check out the test. My mechanic installed the pressure tester on the coolant fill neck and started the car. I asked him what is was supposed to do. He replied that there is a color change inside this little bulb on top that signifies that exhaust gases are present in the system. As he was saying this all of a sudden there was this loud POP and the pressure tester went flying off like a missle and hit the roof. We just stood there, surprised as hell and I turned to my mechanic and asked "so I take it that wasn't good?"
