White Smoke From Engine Bay

I just changed out all the vacuum lines and when I first started the car, white smoke came out of the passenger side of the engine bay. Would it be possible for it to be coming from the turbo control actuator? I did a search but I didn't find a definate answer. Thanks.

if the smoke smells sweet you got a coolant leak somewhere and its burning in the engine bay. does it do this every time you start the car?

It doesn't smell sweet. It does it every start up but not until 1-2 min after.

Right.
1.white smoke cannot come from the turbo actuator ie the actuator cannot be the source of the smoke.
2it could be water vapour from the exhaust system, but this would require exhaust gas odor to be present, and the noise of leaking gases.
3 it could be vapor from hot oil, again requires pungent odor of same.
4it could be leaking coolant but according to the oster it does not have the sickly odor.
In order to solve a problem ,however,it has to be accurately described, and any moron with half a brain can see that insufficient data has been provided.

There aren't too many things on a car that will cause white smoke. There are alot of things that will cause steam. My bet is with a coolant leak somewhere, probably turbo coolant lines. The "1 to 2 min" delay after start-up is about right for things to get hot enough.

oil leak cause white smoke. out the exhaust it looks blue but in the engine bay it looks white.

if it doesn't smell sweet then it's not antifreeze. my guess is you got an oil leak somewhere. either way it's coming from the turbo and it's time to get a flashlight and crawl around.

I jacked up the car and the smoke looks like it's coming from under the oxygen senor area. The smoke does smell like exhaust but I didn't see any blue hue coming out of the exhaust.

So is it still doing it consistantly? Ive done a few vacuum jobs and a bit of smoke burns off usually from handling the parts with greasy hands. Not a lot though. White usually mean coolant and just because it doenst smell sweet could be his mixture if he is mixxed with water the smell will be somewhat diluted. White from oil is usually from oil burning off something... you happen to say it is around the O2 area do you have a stock pre-cat? if so if might have some oil biuld up in it that its burning off or possibly clogged.

I just fixed a problem today that sounds similar. I had a 5/8" coolant line burst which leaked coolant all over hot parts causing a lot of white smoke (steam). The line was connected from the thermostat cover to the turbo, if I remember correctly. I guess all the heat there finally deteriorated the line to the point of hose failure. Getting to it wasn't too bad after removing the air pump. Check if you have a coolant leak anywhere.

Leaks of any kind near the turbos should not be ignored. Even coolant will burn.
