alright, to fix my prev thread...

I'm hearing this whirling/squealing noise from near the altnernator. From my prev thread, someone told me that these are my drive belts making the noise b/c they might be worn out. I just checked them out and they aren't worn out at all, it looks like they were actually replaced pretty recently..

Can you guys suggest anything that might be making this noise? sometimes I hear it, sometimes I don't, but it's always at idle...

does fixing the problem consist of me just oiling something??

 

The simple and obvious first: Have you tried tightening them?

 

it's either too tight or too loose...

 

i just check the belts right now and they seem pretty tight...

not too tight, but just tight enough to be pretty secure..

how would you loosen/tighten them??

 

or just buy "Belt Dressing" at any auto store and follow the directions. Spray the inside of the belts around the pulleys and see if the noise goes away...
