intermittent turbo probs 93 stock rx7

Got a stock 93 rx7. Only problem is that the turbos dont kick in half the time. I can be at a dead stop and floor it and 1 of three things will happen(with equal frequency):
1. Normal acceleration, 1st turbo kicks in at 3000 rpm and 2nd at 4500 rpm.
2. 1st turbo will kick in at 3000 rpm and at exactly 4500 rpm the engine cuts out and wont rev any higher. Also, it sounds like a box of rice crispies are in the exhaust(snap, crackle, pop) until I let off the gas.
3. Car accelerates fine up to exactly 3000 rpm and engine starts cutting out in same manner as above.

Just put new plugs & fuel filter on it. Compression is 127 at both rotors and seals are in good shape.

This has got to be something simple. I'm still trying to learn all the different controls on this motor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not simple at all... List your mods. Are you sure you are stock? It sounds like you may be running non-sequential. Many people pull their mods off when they sell the car. Most of the times boost comes on around 2500 on the primary.

Also, I thought best normal compression on these motors was 115...

How much boost are you running? Do you have a boost gauge? If not, run out and get one fast and go for a run to see how much boost you are running. Anything over 10 psi is bad with the stock ecu. Stock boost goes 10 on the primary 8 at transition and 10 on the secondary.

Sounds like you are either getting detonation at the transition (which will blow your motor very quickly) or ignition breakup. Do it once or twice and you might get lucky and drive away with your motor still holding compression. Do it a few more times and you will be towing your car somewhere.

Find yourself a good rx7 specialist in your area in the regional forums.

Thanks for the input. To anser your questions, car has zero mods, bone stock. Engine was rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago. Vacuum lines have little tie waps on them, which kind of worries me because you never know how competant the previous owner was. High gauge readings might be attributed to use of crapsman compression tester. I'll have to get a boost gauge.
Cutout feels exactly like a fuel cutout if that helps. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
