Question Where to get used turbos?

Ok ive made the decision to screw trying to rebuild them and get some used ones. Yes i know that everyone wouldnt agree and would tell me to buy new ones...but im crazy low on cash. What i wanna know is where is a good place to look for them and also does anyone have a set they would like to sell to a pitiful poor man that really wants his car to run like it's supposed to for cheap....*sheds a tear*. Ive looked on Ebay and i saw only one but they are gone now...plus they leaked some oil anyway. Ive searched this site up and down looking for threads but i cant find any recent ones. I really need something to get me buy for the time being. Thanks a lot guys/gals

why would you do that when you can get bnr to rebuild them for the same price?

do it right or dont do it at all.

as brentis said the other day..."garbage in...garbage out"

think about that.

the line of thought you are dealing with leads to one place...a junk fd. patience will get you farther than rushing and not doing it right the first time.

"garbage in, garbage out" is exactly why you shouldn't get turbos rebuilt. to get turbos rebuilt well you need to start off w/ a great core. problem is the fact that it needs to be rebuilt means that it's prolly not in too good of a condition, basically it's garbage. now if you bring garbage in for a core, what are you gonna get out? personally i'd rather get a low mileage set in excellent condition. it's still a crap shoot either way.

Well i would go with the BNR but i dont have that money right now...i found that set on ebay for like 350 bucks but it's gone...and it was leaking a little oil. I've thought about waiting to send them to BNR. BUT! I also want to see what 10 psi feels like throughout like 7k rpm instead of 10 psi to 4500 then anywhere from like 2-5 from then on. I guess im just down **** creek w/o a paddle here....anyone else?

Have you done enough troubleshooting to know that you really have a bad turbo? If so, then carry on with your search. If you're not sure, why not open a thread about the boost problem and see if the folks on the list can help you track it down. You might save the cost of used turbos.

Good luck,

dood...yer wasting your time.

just be patient and do it right. you can have it done right by spring and can save yourself some miles and heartbreaks..and HEADACHES.

sorry...but jerry rigging an fd is not what i would consider smart.

i know what it is like to have your car down....my car was down for almost a year while i built it from the inside out. I cut corners one time and paid for it later. I will never cut corners again.
