I would keep the stock cat on, or get a high-flow unit. If you totally gutted the main cat, you'll probably blow up the motor by overboosting. Even a boost controller prob won't help, but it's hard to say.

*do you have an aftermarket boost guage?

you have an intake, no pre-cat, catback, AND you want to gut the main cat.........I think you are going to be told here that you are asking for trouble by not upgrading the ECU. It doesnt necesarily have to be power fc.

It's basically the same question as you are asking. Good luck.

Maybe an intercooler would be safer than removing the cat.

i have been advised to get an apexi s-afc but i`m not convinced if that will surfice. i have a hks mech boost gauge and the car seems to boost to the mazda spec. also the engine is only 3500 mile old... when i bought my cat back exhaust they sent me a silenced mid pipe with it claiming i could put it on!!!!!!

Negative. Leave that main cat on there. You'll have to spring for a Power FC or maybe an older pfs piggyback ecu before you do any more power mods. If you install that midpipe you're risking blowing that 3500 mile motor, and a boost controller won't do jack squat to help the situation.

Don't waste your money on the RB cold air intake. Check this out instead:

For some photos of my airbox mod (similar to adam's) check my albums in the photo gallery
https://www.rx7club.com/photo/showga...r=2939&cat=500

I have since added another duct from the front, cut more holes in the stock box, and removed the stock duct from the IC duct.

i just cut 8 20mm holes in my factory air box around the chasis leg and the less known gap between the wheel arch lining. it now boosts to 0.8 bar on the first turbo. then 0.8 on second and creeping up to around 1.0 bar if i dare let it go that far. think i`m gonna have to fiber glass it all up. what`s the general thought on this. how do cars with cat back and open induction kits preform???? help....

i want to reopen the holes up in the box. what ecu or electronic gagets do u boys suggest. current thoughts are apexi s-afc
apexi p-fc less favorable due to expense
hks f-con
