when should the fans kick in?

i asked a mechanic and he said the sensor should turn on the fans at around 230 degrees fahrenheit.....is this right?? i thought it was 180?

The stock ecu/thermosensor turns the fans on low at 221F (105C). By 230F, they should be running at high speed. Turning the A/C on should turn the fans to low/med, even at lower temps.

The stock t-stat should be open by 180-185F or so (86C).

BTW, this is all in the factory service manual...you really should download a PDF copy or buy one.

The Mechanic is correct. The thermoswitch triggers the ECU to turn on the two radiator fans somewhere between 215F - 230F.

stupid question but will a PFC w/ datalogit allow you to lower the temp without replacing the thermoswitch?

No, they turn on Low speed at 221F (105C), not "somewhere" between 215F-230F.

do you have to actually hit the a/c button or just turn the fan speed up to 3-4 to get them on?
