Wheel Hub Nut Size

Anyone know offhand what the size of the wheel hub nut is on a FD? I can't find it in any manuals I have or by a search here.

Thanks.

Whatever the size, you will have to get one from Mazda because it is not a simple nut. It is brass(?) and has a crown that must be punched into a keyway to remain secure.

So, my understanding is that they are one use items...

You take it off - you replace it. That is why I say that the size does not matter, you have to get one if you plan to remove it, so you might as well get it first, then get a wrench to fit the new one.

Interesting... That seems to concur with what the workshop manual says, but if that's true all those people who autocross and change rotors would have to replace this twice a weekend? That doesn't seem right... Perhaps there's some other way?

If I remember correctly, the hub does not have to be removed to change the rotors.

It appears I'm totally dumb since when I had the wheel off the other day it looked like I needed to take them off. That would explain the lack of information about their size and how the autocross people do it.

I'll have to go look again on the car. In any case I measured the one I picked up tonight from a Mazda dealer and it's 1.375 inches. (~35mm)

Thanks for the info.

Welcome, you will most likely need an impact wrench to remove the disk. Search for my name in a thread I created about removing the disk.
