What's this worth
Looking at a 3rd gen in need of some serious work. I wanted to get some feedback on what is a fair price. It is a 93 touring with 60k on it. Motor and turbos are blown. Engine and various components in engine bay are removed and in a pile. Both door handles are broken, bose stereo is missing, missing drivers side power window switch. Paint is VERY hard, no dents but lots of scratches and fading. There is small rust bubbling on the roof where the sunroof is.
He is asking $4k. I was thinking $3k is a fair price. I figure this needs $5-$6k to get it into decent shape again.
opinions?

What do you consider decent shape?
A good paint job, rebuilt engine, turbos, stereo, and the little misc. stuff is gonna cost more than $5-$6k if you follow through with it all. Like you said, I would think $3k is a fair price.
But its all relative on how good of a restoration you want. Sounds like a good project though if you have the time and money.

Figure $5k for paint, another $5k for the engine, and $2k-$3k for other random stuff.
At which point you could have bought a clean, low mile one that needs no work.
Unless you want it for a fun (but expensive) project, I would pass. $4k is actually pretty low for a shell with engine though.

3 to 4k is a decent price if everything is in pretty decent shape (60k on chasis shouldn't be too bad and is extremely low milage for this car) parts can be found cheap in the wanted for sale section and while you may get close in price to what you can find another one for, when you finish you will know exactly what's in the car.
hey what up banzai, just to let ya know i just bought my first fd. it is in pretty good condition except a 6 inch dent on the front pass. side fender. it has 76k miles on it and it starts and runs, but it does run rough. i'm taking it to a rotary shop next week. i paid 2500 for it, i thought i got a pretty decent deal. plus this is just a project car for me not a daily driver.
