What's needed to runs 9's

This is going to be a daily driver. Motor and tranny I have taken care of. What will I need to do ( other than tires ) to the rear end and suspension to get it to hook up enough to run a mid to high 9 at around 135-140 in the 1/4?

a nice K&N air filter and tornado combo should get you close.

I don't see how you can know that your motor and tranny are "taken care of" and not know what it's gonna take for tires, axles, diffs, suspension? Well, if your motor and tranny are taken care of, then that means you've got around 550 hp (with power across the board) coupled to a dog gear style trans. You'll need to put that through an LSD, through chromolly (sp?) axels, through 18x9.5 drag radials, under coil overs. Limit the boost in 1st gear. There... simple!

Actually, i plan to turn my rx7 into a mid 9 second street car, but im gonna be going the LS1 route when i do that. With a rotary, 9's are a pretty tough goal, but not impossible. Good luck, and I hope you have a good bank roll for your task.

For starters I would google rx-7s and dragracing just to see what to come up with. I don't keep up with current drag racing information. But I do know that there are a few 9 second 3rd gen rotaries out there both past and present. So I would start there if you really want to know what it takes to run 9's besides a whole heckuva lotta money.

Oh yeah and read the 3rd Gen FAQ first...

From this video, you can clearly see the presence of a "tail wind", so looks like you will have to add that to your list!

kaaz rear end = same stock weak housing.

Do what I am doing to get there ---> get this Cobra Cradle, Cobra Cradle, Then buy a 03-04 Ford Cobra 8.8" rear diff. Chromoly axles from steeda performance, and coilovers.

^^^^ Thats just a suggestion, atleast that's what I am doing this Xmas break. Then my new motor goes in, should put me into the 10s.

Say, LUPE, this UK built FD has about as much *max* power as you... has the same turbo as you... do think maybe he's flossin' a different air filter than you? Or is it *something else* that's responsible for such high trap speeds??? Hmmmm... wonder what *that* could be?

Guy from UK was running 26psi, I believe that Eric was only running 23psi because he maxed out his wastegate spring.
