Moving schmoving. I'm not commenting that 140 *on VIR* is bad; I'm saying that 140 being the fastest you've ever been in an FD (which the factory rated at 159) is weak

Ever heard of 95/495? There are a good number of smaller roads around here that you can def. wind her out on, but you need a scout or two to make sure the coast's clear first. I'll help out (if you ever come up and viist)

895 is better. 288 was the american autobahn for years but that one's a little too low key for me to expect a NoVa boy like you to know it. Anyways they realized people were cruising at 100 and put cops on it.

At the time my car (1st gen '83) was mostly stock, save for an airfilter and springs... On I90 floating bridge it would hold at 115 - 120 MPH depending on the wind, but on a trip with a friend, I was on I84 and went around this corner at 120MPH and then after that was like 3 miles of down hill. It got to 132MPH But then I let off cause I didnt want to go around that corner at much more that 120. Now lets see what a Holley and an SDJ do

No, it's not a real pic, but it's close 'nuff. My top speed thus far is 165 MARK MY WORDS, however. I'm gonna see 200mph in my FD (or die trying). No joke. On video

I'm feelin the love Alex But I'm real serious too. I'mma make a big thing outta it. Close down the road, have a few runners w/ me to make sure nothing gets in my way (I need a full 5 mile stretch), double and triple check the tires, suspension, body parts, blah blah, and just DO IT. It's gonna take a LOT of power too, cuz I don't want to spend much time at such speeds.

I don't post much, but this does seem to be a common thing with car nuts. While I have not had the fortune of rolling into the throttle and flicking through the gears in an RX7 (*yet), i've had my fair share of the joys of speeding.

My uncle asked me to deliver some small handrail parts to Dothan, Alabama a few years back and I decided that I would take the job. I called a buddy of mine and asked him if he would like to join me on a short "road trip" to Alabama. He said yes and I picked him up on my way down.

Running south around the west side of Atlanta getting around to I85, we both took notice to how light traffic seemed that day. We had no trouble getting around on I285 and onto I85. We're heading south at about 90MPH and the building confidence of little other traffic had me asking my buddy if he would mind finding the top speed of my car. He said no, I dropped back into 4th gear for a few seconds before returning the shifter back to the 5th spot. Past 120, and things were slowing down quite a bit. Past 125, the big dial on the left didn't seem to be moving very much if at all. Past 130, umm.... there wasn't a past 130.

But I did manage to look back up for a bit while I held the perverbial "peddle to the metal" to notice two fox body mustangs and a C4 corvette. I remember looking in the rear view, noticing that all three cars now had their noses pointing at the sky, and they are no longer becoming smaller. The 'vette caught up to me and looks surprised to see a 1990 Acura Integra just humming along at 130MPH. I waved at him and he gave me a thumbs up, shortly before showing me some real horsepower. We met at a gas station around Hogansville and asked me what I had done to the car. I told him that it was stock besides an HKS sport exhaust and an uprated ACT clutch.

The only other memorable time, and most likely the most moronic, I was going to be late picking up my then girlfriend and needed to get over to her house quite rapidly. I decided to forget about caution and do what I needed to do to not have her mad at me for being late again. It was exactly five miles, driveway to driveway, and I made the run in just over two minutes traveling over 120MPH on HWY278 south out of Powder Springs. I was just lucky that there were no police officers camping on the usually populated 1.5 mile stretch that day.

I apologize for being long-winded, but I am a story teller and was raised a perfectionist. So I do tend to ramble on with unnecessary details.

I'll get back to you all when I finally get my hands on a nice third gen and open her up a bit. Might get back into some backroad running with a cam about that time, I keep hearing the praises of the handling with the third gens. Top speed and drag racing weren't really my thing back when I was younger (come on, I drove a freaking glorified honda. Drag racing a stock honda/acura makes no sense to me at all). I liked to see how long it would take me to get from one place to another while avoiding major roads as much as possible. Like my own personal time attack event.

160

The people we go past in the beginning are two friends on sport bikes. It was an empty road.

I-90 is a fun one. I've hit 145 across the bridge, took a vid of 135 thru the tunnels, and would love to hit the east side of the mountains to open her up past my top speed to date of 160mph on I405 in Bothell heading north =) Also hit 155mph on I5 south near Fife in the fast lane to bypass some slow traffic. Oddly enough no one was in the left lane.......???? But Eastern WA on I90 appears to be the spot. Saw no police and LOOOOOOOOOOONG never-ending straights that would be perfect for having a buddy wait on an overpass for a 175mph flyby thru Moses Lake.

OK, I'll tell my story. This happened about 6 months ago. I don't know what got into me. I was driving along at 65 mph when I was seized by this sudden impulse. I pressed on the accelerator and watched the speedometer. It inched up to 66....then 67....and finally on to 68. There I was, flying along at 3 miles an hour above the speed limit. I felt so wild and free. I rolled down the windows and turned up the radio. I felt a little bit dirty too. Kind of like Willie Nelson, or the Hell's Angels.

It was quite an experience. Some day I may screw up the courage to try it again.
