Please use the search function, there's so many good posts about this already.

My 2 cents is the original Profec B (not Spec II). It's dead simple to set-up and use and just plain works. If you want fancier features, step up to the AVC-R or the Blitz or HKS units.

Erm ok.. that would depend on the type.. not all manual ones suck FYI. Lots of people use them.

I spent $500 for an HKS EVC that worked for a year before the solenoid crapped out. HKS wouldn't warranty it, and for the VERY few times I actually NEEDED to change boost while driving, it was hard to justify that outrageous price. $125 for a manual was a much better deal, and is less likely to go bad.

No, I don't know your boost controller personally ...but I do know many people who've used manual boost controllers and when the air temp drops they spike.

I would attribute that to a crappy boost controller than. However, not all manual controllers have those problems. I have had no such issue with mine, and therefore would recommend considering a manual boost controller.

Profec B spec 1's are simple, easy to install, and easy to adjust. Do a search and see how many people swear by them.

that would be like me saying "Well...to you and anybody else willing to take the risk of a electronic boost controller....Have fun rebuilding when ya spike when your solenoid goes bad! "

I have used a "Home Depot" manual boost controller for more than a year and have experienced no spiking. I won't say that it is the best boost controller out there. But, for $5, this Cheap Bastard is very happy with it.

As long as you don't get a piece of junk MBC they can work fine. For example I would have no worries about say, a TurboXS MBC spiking boost.

The only thing to worry about with one of those is is if you drive up to a much higher altitude than the altitude at which the controller was set. But otherwise it should hold boost just fine.

i'm taking out my daws device mbc in favor of a profec b because the temp does effect my boost level. temps never cause my boost to spike, but when it gets colder, i get more boost and run into fuel cut and then have to open the hood and adjust. i just like knowing that if i set the profec to 10psi that i'm going to get 10 psi, no less, no more, no matter what the temp, humidity, etc. that being said, if you're on a budget, a mbc can be very effective. i will say that the home depot controller is junk imo and you're better off spending $50 on a good mbc than spending the $20 in materials the h.d. controller will cost.

I have a profec b. Works perfect, no spiking with my non sequential setup. Nice to be able to switch between 3 boost settings and much easier to adjust boost compared to a mbc.
