Unless you are flogging the car on a track, 10w30 is fine.

use the search button in the upper left corner. Oil has been discussed over and over and over again. Type, weight, synth vs non-synth is all already discussed just find it.

20-50. Do a search on fuel dilution, 10-30 will turn into water quickly.

20w50 amsoil here. I don't think you can go wrong with redline or royal purple either, but I stay away from Mobil1. A couple of the guys above mention it (15w50 is usually mobil1) but i wont use it again. I've torn down a couple of motors (mine and a few friends) and didnt like the abnormal wear i saw. Not 100% sure if it was the oil of course, but I am sticking with amsoil

would using a light weight oil like 5/30 or 10/30 cause oil to go past the oil control rings and cause the engine to smoke?

I've never had a problem. I run 10w30 on the street (which is where my car is most of the time besides the jackstands) but I run 20w50 for the track. Never had excess smoking or anything with 10w30.

Given an aggressive driving style (high rpms, high boost, constant WOT) I feel that 20w50 is much better for the bearings and all of the other internals......

Even though I use 10w30, I agree with Jeff. After just ~1,000mi, you can already tell the oil is diluted. It has a faint smell of gas and it's not nearly as thick as it was when it was fresh.

Greetings CMSgt Abad,

Mainly on the irons. One motor had some serious wear on the rotor bearings and e shaft lobes as well. These were all "professionally" built motors.
