What Thermal Reflactive Adhesive is this?!?!?!?

Hey guys,

I PM'ed a forum member requesting some pictures of his engine bay a while ago becuase i liked the way he thermally protected everything.

I have searched my entire posting history and CANNOT find his username... so i leave the question to you guys.

What thermal reflective tape is this..... And is it any good? We all know 'Au' is the best heat reflector, hence McLaren F1, however i doubt this is actaual gold... either way its cool.

Thanks in advance.

Holy shizzen!!

I didnt actually think it was REAL gold tape.

Seems like a good product however the temperature rating seems low on it.. ~650 fahrenheit.

I am tempted to get some, although its hella expensive.

Yep, that's my engine bay. Since my single turbo will be ceramic coated and additionally will have a blanket and wrap around the on the turbine and headers respectively, the engine bay temps should be reduce considerably. The gold film will be an additional line of protection.

That 675 F is within 1mm gap and continuous heat, it can actually handle way more heat in short bursts. Aluminum fabric you speak of is an aluminum outer reflective layer and a fiberglass cloth secondary layer. The fiberglass cloth is what makes the aluminum wrap stuff rated so high in temp.
