FD + sand on pavement = interesting fun
So I took the FD out for the first time in a long time yesterday, road had cleared up, temps were in the high 40s, and that car just had sat WAY too long...lol!
Only problem was all the damned sand left on the roads from all the snow treatment we have had. I was half sideways half the time, whenever I'd start out from a stop. Driving an automatic in these conditions takes some practice, because of the way the power comes on. I ultimately just left it in 'D' and turned the HOLD on, and I had an effective traction control.

Yea, someone knows what the hold button is for on there car (covered in the owners manual as well) Hate to hear your driving it in that snow treatment crap as it usually includes salt as well.

Most of the salt had been washed away. We'd had a lot of ice, so they'd treated the roads. At the intersections they also had just sanded the living **** out of the streets. Once the ice melted, we had a day or two of rain. Then it FINALLY dried out a bit so I ventured out.
Believe me, the FD doesn't even get driven in RAIN, let alone on crappy salt covered roads.
But I know what you are getting at.

I had my only loss of control in my FD when I made a turn and crossed over a patch of gravel (we use that crushed blue limestone for snow traction) in the early spring. I didn't realize until later what caused me to lose traction for that moment, but it was enough to really f me up.
