What step are there to take this off?

when your looking at the engine bay, to the right of the master brake cylinder there is a plastic shelf looking with a little retractor on it, with a cable running under the intake elbow and hooks to the main throttle body. What is this and i have seen many engine bays with this taken out and wonder what all you have to do inorder to disable this.

I would of search but i have no idea what it is called

thanks
~Luke

That would be the cruise control. It's "removed" on some because not all models come from the factory with it installed (for those that didn't know).

If so, that's the cruise control....

Shut up, you...

BTW, I haven't forgotten about the pics of the lights. I took some but they were a little dark, so I'm going to snap a few close ones tomorrow and I'll post them up.

Was cruise control standard on FD's? Mine doesn't have one, does that mean that it didn't come with it from the factory or the previous owner dismantled it?

It's not that anyone took it off, I know the '93 R-1's did not come equiped with cruise. And possibly the '94-95 R-2's??? Anyone know if they also had cruise deleted? I thought Base, and Touring were equiped with cruise. There are times I'd like to have the damn thing. Oh well

Check here:

Actually, I don't think I've ever used the cruise control on my car in the 4+ years I've owned it. I'm going to repaint that bracket and I've contemplated just removing it...

The only models that didn't include cruise are the R1 and R2s. Every other FD should have cruise on it from the factory.

I've added cruise to my R1, it is a simple bolt-on. You need the switch, computer (under the left side of dash), buttons on the steering wheel and the actuator under the hood. All the wiring is in place, just plug it in and it'll work.

Why would you want to remove it? It doesn't weigh much. Is it in the way of something you want to install? If you want to sell your car later, it will be a plus to the new buyer. You might even like to use it on a long trip.

So, does anybody have an entire cruise control setup they want to part with? When I take the long drives across the desert my foot gets cramped up after about 3 hours of not moving. I wonder how many people would accuse me of not actually having an R1 if I were to put cruise on it.

It took 5 min to take it off. I could always put it back on. It cleans up the area. I have wires going throught the firewall. They're more easily accessed. I also have the HKS twin power mounted in the area. Man, finding a mounting place for that thing was the hardest part of the install.
