What solenoid is this?

It the one located on the front side of the engine right below the charge air pipe of the intercooler. Sits about six inches down and to the right of the air pump(if your looking at the engine from the front bumper). One vacuum line goes up and the other comes out of the side and to a check valve, then to a nipple on the UIM.

6' below the air pump then to the right is going to place you ok the front cover of the engine. Like the others suggested a pic would be good.....or maybe a little more description of where exactly it is. Whats it mounted to???

You guys are trying to make this waaaaay too hard

It's the purge control. Let me guess, the check valve it attaches to is the only metal one right? And the little bit of it that you can see looks like this...

Cheers,

That is the hose that connects to the solenoid below it.

Well, in that case... It's the Double Throttle Control.

Just to clarify- This is the forward most solenoid on the bottom row in the rats nest right? That's where the hose you pointed out goes.

Do you have the full color, handy dandy vacuum diagram? I tried to get you a link to a web page were it's located, but the site seems down. The diagram is 740 kb, and I'd be happy to email it to you if you'd like. It's a great diagram that will answer almost any question you could have about these vacuum lines and solenoids.

Cheers,
Rusty

My guess would be that the double throttle solenoid wouldn't have anything to do with idle, unless there's a vacuum leak on one of the hoses. I haven't really studied the double throttle circuit, so others may be able to give a better answer.

Good luck,
