What should I beware of

So my wife and I just picked up a 94 base FD, its a project as in we need to put the whole car back together.

Car came with

freshly rebuilt street ported engine
moddified fuel rail to fit 850's in both primaries and secondaries
Power FC with commander
3" DP
racing beat single tip cat back
ebay larger intercooler

My question to you all is what things should i do/delete/beware of putting this back together. My rx7 skills are limited but my mechanical skills are very high. I work swapping subarus and performance for a living.

I have read the FAQ's and all that just want to get peoples opinions as well.

thanks in advanced

Seth
goals for the car are probably around 400rwhp (putting it together with stock twins for now and i know i wont get that out of them.) a good all around street car thats fun and looks good

I say this like a broken record, but keep your boost where it needs to be. Extra boost is not a good thing.

Are the turbos still sequential? If so, test all of those solenoids (see link in FAQ) and make sure the hoses and actuators are in good condition.

I'd look into the condition of the motor mounts, diff mounts, and see how the oil pan was sealed. It's a perfect time to install an oil pan brace and prevent later oil leaks.

You can delete emissions systems (double-throttle, EGR, AWS, OMP) as you wish because the PFC doesn't miss them.

For the power level you're interested in, start reading about AI systems. Links in the 3rd Gen FAQ.

I was planning on upgrading the motor mount at the least, as for the turbos and oil pan. the oil pan was just resealed up when it was rebuilt if people think is something i should change then i will. and the turbos are off the motor right now i have everything to set it up like stock if need be if thats the best way to do or if non seqental would be a better setup for me then ill go that way.

Personally I think the car is more fun to drive with the turbos sequentially. I would take the advice of dgessaman above and test all the components before getting everything all buttoned up. One thing you have not mentioned is the exhaust setup that will be going back under the car. If you plan on running a midpipe in place of the cat then do some searching on here if you have not come across that already. There are lots of issues with boost creep when using that kind of exhaust setup on these cars.

It sounds like you have tuning experience and with the PFC there should be no problem tuning the car to run 12-13psi although I also point you to the above mentioned thread about the great advantages of using AI. HERE: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/making-case-rotary-powered-fd-fix-806104/

The oil pan brace is a good idea, the pan on these cars is difficult to seal really well b/c of how the motor is put together. The pan is bolted to all the parts of the block and those individual parts may shift with torque and small oil leaks are known to creep up. The brace helps prevent the components from shifting thus helping stop small oil leaks.

The 850's in the primary injector location are a bit overkill and will make it difficult for you to tune the idle and it is going to run pretty rich at idle (with my 850 primaries I cannot come any leaner than 11.2:1 at idle). I also recommend, although it is not a necessity an HKS twin power, it will help smooth out that idle a little bit.

With what you have I don't think you should have any problem getting to the 350whp range but also please remember, this is no subie... 350whp in the FD is more than 350awhp in a subie. Congrats with your new purchase, you will not be disappointed. The FD is an absolute blast to drive.
