What oil do you use to break in your new motor?
Any name brand conventional oil should be perfectly fine.
Like someone said, use recommended weight acccording to your climate.
I run 10w-30 all the time, all year round conventional oil.
It really doesnt matter.
Im using valvoline, gonna switch to castrol gtx only because they had a sale on it lol

Protek-r is just 2 stroke synthetic oil. No point in spending the money on that, you can just go to Walmart and get some quality ashless synth 2 stroke. I personally get the idemitsu premix from www.rx7.com and love it.....designed for our motors, so it doesnt smoke or smell.

Personally,
Before Craking over the new motor. I would use the oil that was in it. New oil is a little thin and in just that first crank wear can be caused that is equivalent to alot of use.

I found some info
Idemitsu Racing Rotary Fuel Lube (Premix) - Synthetic Blend:
Inherently with many rotary engines, the entirety of the rotor and housing are not being sufficiently lubricated, resulting in premature wear or damage. In order to increase lubrication within the engine, Idemitsu developed Idemitsu Rotary Premix. At 1/2 oz per gallon of fuel, it is a cost effective way lubricate more of your engine and prevent premature catastrophic damage.
A special blend of base oils reduces deposits and subsequent exhaust port clogging. As a result, your rotary will maintain the power at which it was designed. Special detergent/dispersant additives keep your fuel injectors clean to reduce maintenance. Provides additional lubrication for apex and side seals to increase seal life and increase efficiency of engine. Special additives allow for better sealing of the chamber, creating greater efficiency and more power.
I am lazy which is why I love the Protek-r's nifty little box of 4oz containers. Just add a bottle for fill up!
I would love to use the Idemitsu premix. So does anyone know where I can buy a dozen or more 8oz containers that can safely hold premix?

Not with the OMP deleted they don't.....as I understand it, the 1/2 oz per gallon is *with* a working OMP.
Based on all the research I've done, with a deleted OMP you want approx 100:1 ratio, and there are 164 oz's in a gallon, so you want around 1 1/2 oz's per gallon in that situation.
Unless I'm wrong (which has happened before, lol) you're not using nearly enough.....have you had your compression checked lately?
P.S. Good to see ya back bud

I think it's worthwhile for my FD, but keep in mind I don't drive it daily. Here's some reading for ya:

P.S. Check out www.idemitsu.com, pretty funny stuff
I've been running 1/2 oz per gal for almost two years and it's tip top
