What Mod Next

I just recently bought my 7, and on it now I have a Boost guage, Temp guage, got a DP and Ignition Wires, Apexi Intake and a Koyo Radiator. What would be the best thing to invest my money in next?

power fc will be the next major mod so you can start upping the power safely. AST should be next though. good luck man.

replace all your rubber hoses with silicone hoses, and zip tie them. Not a lot of money, probably a lot of time, but it will save you a lot of heartache once it's done.

If you've got the money, you may also want to look into getting a PFC as well.

might wanna grab a nice cat-back too if you like the stock one, i got a SS racign beat dual tip, looks almost exactly like stock, just has a polished box, and sounds a little nicer. should definitely get an aluminum AST though (fastcarfreak is right about that). PFC would be a great next step also. as far as airflow goes, a new IC and possibly a high-flow cat or mid-pipe should pretty much round it out for ya

Depends on what you have, I'd say get silicone hoses and general hose and piping upgrades if you're all stock Brake pads and rotors, tires, suspension, an ecu. Insurance. How much money do you have? a cat back would be nice.

Maybe an extinguisher.

A nice engine start button and some light up windshield washer squirter things and some for your tire pressure caps .. some of those aluminum aero fins that go on the bumper. (just kidding)

So right now I'm at Brake Pads, Power FC, or Silicone Hoses. Anymore suggestions?

Next mod.... the I was stupid and this happened fund. Always a good idea with these cars to have some extra money lying around when something goes wrong. It's up to you to judge how much that fund should be.

Nice list of mods, sounds pretty tasteful. Fuel filter, be sure to replace that, every 15K is the recommended interval. What do you want to do with the car, make lots of power, be super reliable, go to track days? Each option would point you in a different direction as far as mods go.

Maybe new shocks, depending on how old the old ones are. Oil temp gauge and oil cooler upgrade if needed. 99-spec front bumper, Mazdaspeed hood. Steering wheel, racing harnesses, racing seats. PFC / Haltech, Intercooler, upgraded fuel pump, water injection... That is approximately the order I would go in if it were my car.

Ast bypassed or eliminated (I did the elimination) and then the PFC. From there I would go cat-back, high-flow cat(depending on emmisions in your state) or mid-pipe. Boost controller, preferably electronic to regulate the waste-gate. Intercooler, I would recommend a stock mount for ease of installation. Fuel rail and 1600cc injectors so you can turn up the boost. Then if your clutch hasn't given out, I would go with a ACT. From there I would start saving for a new engine (reman is the only reasonable way in my book) and turbos because you are going to blow both up prematurely by upping the boost.

Oh yeah, while your saving up for an engine do the vacuum hose job to get better aquainted with your car. You might want to do it now if you already have a boost problem. If not, mod away...

Boost controller - with a downpipe and intake you maybe seeing higher boost already. You should if you add an exhaust.

Fan Mod - I like having the ability to turn them on when I feel the car is getting hot.

An ECU.

I don't know why everybody always says a PFC. It is not for everybody.

I say get a boost controller first and finish up the reliability mods. With getting a PFC, look at spending close to $2000 with the unit and tuning. Not really worth it if your running the basic bolt-ons and stock boost. Get the car running good and reliable before you worry about turning the boost up and getting it tuned. You'll just run into more problems if you throw a PFC on and turn up the boost. Thats why there are so many "I just popped an apex seal today" threads.

The same goes for every idiot spouting "get a midpipe", when it is the most serious mod short of going single turbo.
