I had one guy ask me if my car was a Ferrari lol

Then at disneyland a few weeks ago these young kids were like, "that's a viper" while another kid said, "diiiiiiiiiiuuum" (ghetto way of saying "damn")

"hey, why you doing a 4 cylinder swap in that viper?"

Errr.... I thought that was pretty obvious. in my post, "RX-7 bodykits" = Body kits made for other cars specifically with the features and/or looks of the 3rd gen RX-7.

Spacer under the hood hinges to vent hot air out the back. Popular in the S chassis crowd. and anyone who can't seem to get underhood temps down I guess. Looks intentional.

or maybe you just think they make it look like an RX7. the stock FD doesn't look like any other car with a body kit that i've ever seen. the NB miata more resembles an FD WITH a bodykit. in fact most all body kits have some sort of resemblance to one another, so more often than not the owner of the other car probably thinks "that RX7 has my body kit..."

Well isn't that just a Grade A douchebag response....

It's not just you, but so many people in this thread seem to respond to honest curiosity with some sort of a bullshit superiority complex. It makes me ashamed to call myself an FD owner if the above is public perception.

Agreed

Lets face it guys, the stock body fd looks like an elongated go-faster miata. Easy to mistake at a distance with an untrained eye.

I am not rude to anyone who doesn't know. Unless they call it a pontiac sunfire But that hasn't happened yet.

I just tell them it's a Mazda/Mazda RX-7 and they usually look confused and don't say anything else

It also looks a bit like the Mazda MX-6 and the Ford Probe, to the uninitiated. My base Montego Blue FD is pretty stealthy, from some angles. I have no illusions – non-car people might take it for a Taurus, a Contour, or something else.

I don't take offense when people compare my FD to a miata, I've owned two of them and love them. There's nothing like going around a 25 mph turn at 75 and not even hearing the tires bark.
