What is this line/pipe?

I'm in the process of building my custom V-mount and have everything removed ready to make the brackets, but there is one line/pie in the way that seems to be connected to the engine and I can't seem to figure out what it is. My guess is it's an oil line, but I would just like a confirmation from an expert.

Possibly relevant notes:
-My car used to be an automatic and I've converted it to manual.
-I have searched and have not seen this pipe on any other RX-7 images.
-being an automatic, there used to be one oil cooler for tranny oil that has been disconnected and will eventually be converted to a dual oil cooler set-up.

Here is the image:

Any info is appreciated. More so if said info comes with instruction on what to do with this line/pipe.

Thanks ahead of time.

That was something I thought of, but it doesn't go to an actual radiator/cooler. It just runs there and goes back to the engine on the PS side. :/

it is a cooler in itself , its the return line . it makes that loop so it gets some wind time . and cools the system . * I recently learned this ROFL *

yes it is the power steering cooler. if you follow it back it goes to the rack and power steering pump. it also helps eliminate fluid aeration.

That's interesting. Thanks for the reply guys. Any suggestion on the best way to relocate it? I've seen a few write-ups and saw that I could upgrade and relocate it to under the intercooler support bar. Like this:

What do you guys think?

Some people eliminate the power steering all together, but requires taking apart the rack and pinion to do it right.

the greddy IC kit also comes with a relocation cooler to move it further back towards the motor for more clearance.

^^How did you learn this recently???? Oh yea, You made another thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/power-steering-return-pipe-977896/ ^^

OP, This thread was made 3 days after the last post in the above thread. Did you even spend 1 minute searching for an answer?

easily arguable that if the op never knew what the name of the pipe was, how could he have searched for an answer?

^ That is not an excuse. The FSM shows it and it tells you the name of it. Op knows where it is located so he/she can look for it in there.

meh, i'd give him some slack, unless you know where to look for it in the FSM, this forum is here for questions like this. not like he was asking how to do a sleepy eye mod or anything, in which case i would get warm next to the flames because it's cold in here!

I don't want to remove PS.

I don't have the Greddy IC kit, I'm making a custom V-mount with a koyo rad and CX Racing intercooler myself.

I actually spent about an hour searching for an answer (not just on this forum, but on Google as well) and, as stated in my first post, I couldn't find anything relative to that pipe....but thanks for showing how much of a dick you can be when someone needs help and asks politely.

P.S.: I don't give a hoot about who you are and what your reputation is online...you still answered like a dick

As I said, I searched but found nothing to even point me in the right direction, so thanks!

I had to google "FSM" because I didn't even know what it meant. And here's a thought, not everyone has a FSM since not everyone bought this car new and not all owners keep such things.

Why even bother answering to a thread like this anyway if it's simply to let me know you're upset about spending too much time on here and reading the same question twice?

Thank you for understanding, again I appreciate the help.

Thanks to John, I will no longer be visiting this forum. I will take my business else where, to another forum where people are genuinely glad to help others who need it, even if they've done it 25 times before.

I dont know.....maybe I am just good with service manuals, but I found it in 2 mins. It is pictured on one of the first pages in the steering section.

The manual is set up so there is an overview of each system at the beginning of each section. All you have to do is click on each section and look at the first few pages. Most sections can be eliminated because they definitely have nothing to do with the front of the car. There is about 6 sections that would need t be looked at. All you need is one min. in each section to find the part. So you basically will have your answer in 6 min.

The FSM is available for ALL to download right in the 3rd gen archive section under Tech manual directory. There is also a thread that tells you what basically all of the acronyms mean in there as well.

^ No problem, Nemesis I will just give you a hard time.

Also, does anybody find it ironic that the OP did not want to search; but expects you to search the area code to know his/her location...?
