Question Are you over 400whp, what catback are you running?

I am curious what exhaust systems and cat-backs you guys are running and what WHP your putting out.

1) Im searching for a true 3" + ID cat-back....most are 3" piping but reduced to 2.25" within the muffler.

2) Deep tone..... not raspy annoying ****

3) Good for 450+ whp in the future

I make 452 whp and run a shitty 3" ebay exhaust, rx7.com 3" resonated MP, M2 3"DP.

It doesn't sound that great but it works.

Greddy Power Extreme. 3" DP, 3" midpipe..... No cats

Sound is deep and mean! Not overly loud, but definitely not quiet.

Right at 400whp.... for now.

One person's idea of "raspy" may be another's "deep tone", so what you are asking is a bit of a loaded question. I suggest that spend some time on you tube, but keep in mind that peoples cameras often pick up the higher pitched noises.

We have lots of customers making over 400whp. Any unrestricted can style muffler will get you there, nearly all of them are going to be loud. This is where the presilenced midpipe really helps to cut down on the raspy idle, droning on the highway and noise at high rpm.

http://www.banzai-racing.com/store/9...P_exhaust.html

The HKS Hi-power is popular because it is inexpensive. The Apexi N1 Dual is also popular because it is affordable and still maintains "some" of the stock look since it has dual tips, and does not have one huge can.

My car is over 600whp and is very quiet, this was accomplished with the Magnaflow presilenced midpipe and the Apexi PS Revo (discontinued). Which brings up another issue, a lot of manufacturers have stopped making exhausts for the FD. Greddy does not make any. HKS is down to two options and since they left the US if it is not in stock expect a long wait. Apexi keeps trimming the line up and their delivery times can be incredibly long if it is not in stock.

I'm using a PFS 4" exhaust from the DP back. Right now I'm pushing just shy of 470whp but I'm sure there is plenty of flow for more power there.

Hell yeah! If he said he didn't want something loud, then I missed it I guess.
Edit: Though that would probably get really annoying and get you pulled over.

if you check in with Ben over at rotary extreme he might still have some fujitsubo RM01A left I think its 300 shipped. the only thing is the piping is 2.75" with a 3.9" tip.

you can check it out here
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=fujitsubo

I picked it up cause it was a great deal still working on rebuilding a new motor, but i did upload pics on the thread.

I've posted many times over the years about my A-Spec full 4-inch turboback setup, ending in an Apex'i GT Spec catback. Combined with the option of running an ATS (active tailpipe silencer) you really have the best of all worlds IMO

i ran a true 4" system. DP, MP, Exhaust.

it was ear bleeding loud. you couldnt talk in the car without screaming. given im HBP adds to it..

now i have a 4"dp and mp with a 4">3" tansisition piece to RB single. omg its quiet. i can have a conversation in the car now...

whats the point of doing a 4'' dp and mp that closes to a 3inch? I was thinking that when(if i ever can afford) i go single i would like to go 4inch with a resonator like i have now. but i just love the way the car sounds/looks with my rb dual

There is no point. lol. i wanted a 4" all the way so i got one. then with all these tickets its impossible to keep the 4" ill probably just get an electric cut off so when i want to pounce ill dump it out the mp..

The closer in proximity to your turbine wheel, the more the larger diameter helps. So it is worthwhile to go with a larger DP while keeping all else 3 inch IMO. Of course, the RB Duals have proven to be a serious bottleneck on cars make less than 400 rwhp, so I'd avoid that setup if you like horsepower

I've got the GReddy Titanium Catback. They come up sale used on the forum fairly often. Just quiet enough not to get me pulled over. It's also one of the lightest exhaust made for the FD.

Not really a jp freak, but would like to make 430-450hp max... Thinking a 500r would help me there

Nope, my setup uses slip sleeve clamps (no flanges) along with flex sections in between the DP/MP and MP/CB. That piece has been chopped off my exhaust and replaced with a 4 inch'er
