What if you.....? Boost controller question....

What happens if you use a boost controller that doesn't have a high and low setting for sequential turbos? I'm pretty sure it would work successfully, but would just eliminate the sequential function of the stock setup. I'm not familiar enough with the FD3 sequential system though, so I don't really know. So someone please give me some input.

Thanks
Chuck

The high and low setting has nothing to do with the operation of the sequential turbos. High and low is a setting for high boost and a setting for low boost. You can still maintain sequential operation at various boost levels, so you could even have a high medium and low setting if you wanted. The main exception to this is you have to have at least 7psi at the transition for the secondary to spool up. Since no boost controller will allow a properly setup sequential system to set the boost below 7psi, this should never be a problem.

Yes yes, I know what the high and low boost is for that you are referring to...I basically just didn't word it right. I meant to say a way of controllers the primary and secondary wastegates.

Thanks

Chuck,

Although there has been some debate about this, I have a profec B working flawlessly by "t-ing" the primary and wastegate control. Still has a smooth transition and full boost without spiking. Check out the diagram I put together on this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=105959

mcf- you did exactly what I am contemplating, with the results I was assuming. But not being totally familiar with the sequentials on the fd3 I wasn't sure. Looks like it's working fine for you. In that case a person could get by with a less expensive single solonoid boost controller.
