**** dealerships....Mazda or not, they dont know **** about the rotary and it will be near impossible to get them to talk to you once ou buy it. Just look in the for sale section here. There are plenty of well-cared-for cars that were built right.

I hate how people keep bringing the value of fd's down just by the the fact that people don't want to spend much on an old" car.. these cars are worth more then people think, granted they cost more to fix but a lot of *high end* cars cost so much more to maintain. consider an fd a steal... spend the EXTRA money to buy one, suck it up, and spend the money that the fd is worth, and THEN consider the factor to having to replace several expensive parts... You guys that think 3rd gens aren't worth a lot are the reason their values degrade highly. PEOPLE, THESE CARS ARE BEAUTIFUL, AND REALIZE YOU CAN HAVE SUCH A RARE CAR, STOP TAKING THESE RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR GRANTED, SPEND MORE MONEY ON YOUR RX-7'S BECAUSE THEY ARE WORTH IT.

Obvisouly we all love them (this is rx7club.com). However, they are not very reliable, require inordinate amounts of maintanence (if you can find someone to work on one) and they are over 10 years old. Why would you pay anywhere near 20K for a car like that? You can find a used C5 in great condition for well less than 25K, and it doesn't cost hardly anything to maintain. Why would anyone (other than rotary engine lovers) spend that kind of money on a rx7?

This is just one of 20 pages I found on autotrader:

Damn, After seeing this add I kind of wish I would have saved up 5k more and bought this, too bad it's an auto.

Understanding that american cars don't hold their value for the most part, yeah it's a good deal if you like corvettes. But as i recall this thread is about someone commenting on fd's, so if they want to buy one they should have the cashflow for it.

^^sorry, If you like FD's and know what you're in for, i say go for it. I just get angry at some other stupid high prices people try to charge for FD that clearly aren't worth that much, the corvetts were just an example to show that you can get an equally (if not better) performing car, that's far more reliable and require less maintanence, for the price some people try to get for an FD.

I remember when I was shopping for my FD....for 16.5k I could have gotten an RX6 single turbo fd with a fresh RP rebuild...All it needed was an upgraded intercooler....(and it was manual) Shop around, more and don't get an automatic...You will always wish you didn't...And you know what they say about Automatic sports cars! they are automatically not a sports car..

I use Ebay as the best judge of price for cars. And that sounds way high!
I just pay $7.5K for my'91 5speed with 93K miles. 8/10 exterior 9/10 interior with the R1 package. Engine is OK and has a box full of new parts (4 brake rotors, spare set of turbos, ECU, new shocks, etc)

Keep looking, esp if you're willing to go for an automatic!

Hmmm

If you guys are saying 10-12k is good for that auto...

What would you say to my ride?

1994 59k Original Miles 5-spd Touring with *Glass* Moonroof and Roll cage
MBM, SO2's all around, Koni Adjustable shocks, Lightened flywheel, M2 Dual Exhaust (quiet and awesome sounding), great compression at 56.9k miles, perfect boost pattern, temp gauge shows 180F as a norm, boost gauge in steering column, 2nd set of stock rims with victoracers, aluminum ast, receipts, rx7 car cover, lubes (vinyl, leather, wax, wash), some oil, fuel filter, stock parts that were replaced, efini badges, mudguards, AFR/knock sensor on pillar......

Exterior: 9/10 (super smooth, no dents at all, just chips and signs of use)
Interior: 9.5/10 (94+ Interior, everything works! no cracks. fade, chipping)

Hope that wasn't in reference to my car...given...mine doesn't "Need engine work" nor is it that modified. A virgin rx7 with original low mileage parts (cept those that give way to reliability, like exhaust and aluminum ast) is much more saught after.
