What do you think my 93 R1 is worth?

I am not currently planning on selling my FD, but I have wanted a change. I dont know if I want a different car, or what. Who knows! I love it, but its either becoming a track car or its time for something else.

Its a 1993 R1 Brilliant Black 113k on the chassis.

Infinity 10 + JL 300
New floor mats with Spyder ebroidered (Haha, dont know if I would sell them with it.)
Entire car was recently resprayed factory color.
Entire car was stripped, cleaned, reshot engine bay, ect.

Tons and tons of work, parts I am forgetting. There are 2 negative things about it. Since it was Tuned by Steve Kan, it has had a rough idle. It runs and drives great. He suggested installing 850 primaries, which I have too.

I just look at this car every day and go A) I have $5k I want to spend on it to make it perfect I dont have. B) I need a daily driver for work.
Financially I am ok. This car is 100% paid for. I would loose money selling it right now I am sure. Should I keep it, track it, and just buy a nice beater? I think that's what I want to do.

Well, your intuition is right. Buy a good beater, and go single turbo/track this car/keep it as a garage queen/weekend driver.

A billion dollars, like every other RX7 because they are supercars. Your sig says you have a 2008 3. Why isn't that your DD already?

I don't think you should sell the car. It sounds like you would regret it down the road. Get a beater and keep taking great care of it like it seems you have been doing. Just stay out of debt with it and keep it forever. That's my plan, as long as I own mine in it's entirety I'll never have a reason to part with it.

I have put 7~ k on this car since I bought it over 2 years ago.

The 3 is my finance' DD with our 1.8yr old son. I drive... 100+ miles a day due to work. I love the FD- Hate the mileage.

Better question: Is anyone using the "classic" car insurance/ cheap insurance posted in the old FAQ?

What should I insure it for? $20k?

Check Ebay and Craig's list, you might be disappointed in what R1s are actually selling for now. Who knows, if you find someone who really wants it, you might get a good price. But I've found that the type of person who wants an FD is either too young, too broke, or hasn't got the credit to buy one, especially a highly modified one like yours.

Not to worried about selling it, right now I just want to make sure its properly covered. A 93 R1 with 42k org miles just sold for $15.5k locally. Really, I only think my car is worth $12k in this market. Its a nice car, but I think its going to be a track slave

I am really considering another LS1 FD for a second project.
